| I have mp3's all over the shop here & I have noticed something annoying.
When I put them onto either my website server, or even burn them onto a CD (Using MakeCD). Tags are going missing. In some cases just PART of the tag goes. It's kind of irritating because I can have tracks that are the same bit rate, the same frequency, encoded on the same day consecutively & yet some still disappear.
If I for example pop the files in Amplifier, SOME tags are read from somewhere because the details are shown in the playlist but Amplifier doesn't display the details in the File Info window.
It gets better. AmigaAMP gets the local tags fine. While the MP3TagEditor (From Michal Rybinski) also only finds some. Aaarrgghh! I also have a car stereo that plays mp3's. That finds some tags & not other too (I need to check if its the same files as Amplifier), in fact, that bugger sometimes completely misses out mp3 files altogether. I checked my CD in the shop demo model & that misses the exact same tracks.
MP3's sent to my website server are definately lost. None of the players here are reading tags. I've tried protecting the files (Only leaving them readable) & I've tried files with both ID3v1 & ID3v2 tags.
Does anyone have even the slightest clue what's going on & does anyone know how I can overcome this irritation?
Thanks, FuZion.
PS. All this is on OS4 Update 2. |

Amazing.
Has no one uploaded an MP3 to a site & noticed this? I need to find a fix.

Go for Ogg Vorbis (1.0), less weird behaviour. _________________ : AmigaOneXE (unmod.) 750FX/512 MB +stuff & AmigaOS 4.(0|1) : A1200/68060&96MB/SCSI/EM1200-Voodoo3 & OS 3.5 : A500/1MB : Pegasos (ff) 512 MB & MorphOS Praise seitan. |

Thanks for being the first to reply
Not quite the answer I was looking for though. I may consider OGG as another form of audio but not as a replacement just yet. Now we have BladeEnc, that's covered. I still have the MP3's to fix up though.

I have that here but haven't used it much. I'll give it a go.

This one is still causing me some grief. If anyone else out there wouldn't mind writing a handful of MP3's that have tags to a CD with MakeCD, or uploading them to a website server & seeing if they can duplicate this strange behaviour I'd be really grateful.
The main problem is that shortly I will need to upload MP3 files on my website that have ALL of the tag details & Copyright text in tact. This problem is going to make mt job a little difficult to say the least.

All the MP3's on my A1 have no tags, but I will see if I can write one and send it. Swamped right now, but should have an answer in a couple of hours. More like tomorrow the way this 28. connection has ground to a halt. John Paul Last edited by cope on 03-Feb-2005 at 02:40 AM.

I have an MP3 CD player in my car, and it reads the tags fine from LAME-encoded files burnt using MakeCD. What format disc are you burning to (CDR/CDRW) and are you including file attributes? _________________ After a decade away from the scene, I am back! |
