Updated cross-compilers again!

Hello!

I've uploaded a few new archives to the AmigaOS4 cross-compiler site. First off, I think shared objects should now work. At least that's what I've been told, I've never used them in any of my own projects.

Second, there's an experimental gcc 4.4.2 in there. It needs to be tested, so please do. This one is only for x86_64-linux so far.

@zerohero

Way to go!

Wish I had the time and skill to do such things.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

@zerohero

Thanks for your updated cross compilers. It's a verry important point IMHO.

I think you could post a real news.

Anyone tested these yet? I would be interested to know if they're working, because then I can continue. Otherwise I'll pull these off the web.

@zerohero

I would, but I don't use Cygwin. My cross-compilers are built using MinGW.

@Trev

Hmmm, pros and cons of using MinGW instead of cygwin?

@zerohero

Most Cygwin-based applications assume their version of the Cygwin runtime is the only one installed. I think side-by-side installation of multiple versions was only very recently introduced, but I suspect it still assumes that cygwin1.dll is managed by Cygwin and not by individual applications. If Cygwin were more Windows friendly, it wouldn't matter.

MinGW doesn't do away with the hard-coded directory limitations of gcc and friends, though. I usually use C:\gcc\<arch>. There are occasionally issues with Microsoft's C run-times to work around as well, as they're not 100% C99 compliant.

EDIT: Had to fix my angled brackets. The forum really should do that for you. :-/

EDIT2: It could also be that I just don't know how to set up Cygwin properly. Still, I'm more comfortable working with MinGW/MSYS and Microsoft's runtime.

EDIT3: Have to fix the !@#% angled when you edit a message, too.

So easy to fix in ASP

new_text = replace(old_text,chr(60),"& lt")
new_text = replace(new_text,chr(62),"& rt")

PHP

$bodytag = str_replace("cat", "car", "this is a cat");

@NutsAboutAmiga

More than that, the form data should be properly parsed to prevent HTML injection.

There was a bug somewhere, but it's been fixed (not by me, I don't code these), and gcc has been updated to 4.4.2. I will compile these as soon as I can an put on my website.

Regarding the feedback I wasn't clear enough, please post anything you find on the sourceforge page:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/adtools/

So the right people can get hold of the information.

I've been told they are, but I have not tested it myself. None of my projects use .so.

i686-cygwin and i686-linux are on the way, beside the x86_64-linux version I'm using myself. Sadly I have no Mac OSX machines here, so someone else will have to do them for you.

@zerohero

Hint: Canadian cross. I have an iMac G3 333 MHz here running Mac OS X Panther. (Anyone have a cheap Sonnet HARMONi available?) I can contribute and test (read: "Hello, World!") a ppc-darwin build, assuming gcc still builds on/for Mac OS X 10.3.x.

Thanks for updating the cross-compilers. Now I just need to dig up those articles about distcc again.

@Trev

Hold your horses there, I'd have to install all kinds of crazy stuff

Anyway, I'm uploading gcc 4.4.3 for i686-linux right now, please test and report on the adtools forums. If they're broken, that is.

There, x86_64-linux and i686-linux hosts finished. i686-cygwin is still missing gcc 4.4.3, will be uploaded tomorrow night, I hope.

I have them online on my web site http://solie.ca/ now and I updated them a bit. Feedback is most welcome.
