How are you looking for the Cyberstorm PPC version of OS4? Is that still in the works or is it on the backburner? Please advise.

Work is still going on. Most changes of the A1 version benefit the Cyberstorm version anyway.

In theory at least, anything that isn't part of the HAL should just work on both systems (you might need to recompile, if you're being aggressive with the compiler switches)

Since all PPC's have the same instruction set, recompiling isn't necessary. This is not the 68k family where each generation had some incompatiblities

Sure, if you generate code for a 750 it will run slower on the 7451, but not too bad.

Hi. I just received the Software Hut Newsletter. They are taking Pre Orders for OS4 for Cyberstorm! They say they "expect" it in October. How accurate is this? Thank you for your time.

For what it's worth, I saw the beta of it running on tekmage's machine at Amiwest...looked to be on the same level as the A1/OS4 pre-release..i.e. lots of progress made, a little slow and rough around the edges.

I guess Softhut guys are basing release date on beta progress, unless
Rogue or Entzhila say it's nearing release, then It's only speculation
IMO.

I wonder why the Software Hut Newsletter states early October. Did they just lick their finger and put it in the air and said: early October it is! Or did Bill and Fleecy earn a few extra bucks by imposing as a fortune teller duo? Maybe we will never know. I did read that Bud Spencer and Terence Hill are looking for stand-in's. Moonlighting never seemed so good!

on shop.elbox.com they have their g3 / 4 sharkPPC cards. they say they will begin production when os4 is released for the A1.. thats great but what they dont tell us is weather there will actually be an OS4 version made for it.

Without any hardware to actually develope an OS 4 version for the SharkPPC, all I can say is that we did not start any work on such a version. I don't know if there is any agreement in place or any talks about such a version, but I think not.
