| Hi Everyone,
let my start by saying "what a show." Now we have an ABM (A or Amiga Business Machine)
I met Trevor , Ben, Thomas, Hans, and Carl and Dale. Jamie, For the first time.
http://www.friedenhq.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=53&Itemid=55 http://www.a-eon.com/ http://www.sassenrath.com/
1) They were all impressed with the live MiniMig demo at the table. 2) I informed them and presented the statistics of the Amiga Banner advertising now reaching 1,000,000.00 Million users a year. This was done a 1 on 1 basis amongst a few of the key people. 3) PPC Notebook running E-UAE was also taken note of as a interesting concept.
Jamie's AVD IDE is kick ass, be prepared to buy this kit. When fully released it will be considered to be a must have tool in developing GUI applications.
Rebol on Amiga OS4.x is a very cool http://www.rebol.net/r3blogs/0345.html
The SAM460 and X1000's are as real as can be, and usable in their current BETA state.
Still here at the hotel, but must get back to work even though the show is over. I will comment or elaborate a little more during the next coming days if required. Last edited by meet.mrnrg on 25-Oct-2010 at 04:46 PM. Last edited by meet.mrnrg on 25-Oct-2010 at 04:12 PM.

| The Holiday Inn had very clean and new facilities, nice representative and a top notch continental and hot breakfast buffet. Banquet food was juicy and sweet. A Big thanks to Carl for providing their great home grown and fermented wine. Probably strait from their home cellar.
I hope they feel generous and offer better rates for the group next year, as it will be a long running show and great return business for them. To be fair it could be 2-4-6 years of business minimum before people might get bored of such a place.
I would to thank Ray, Bryan Chuck and others for their tremendous super human efforts. I've got my Amiga T-Shirt now, and it only cost $20.00
More later... _________________ Quote:

CBM = or used to = Commodore Business Machine. ABM = (A)miga Business Machine - or at least it should.
There is more than enough software and emulation to warrant this claim. So yes - for quite some time Amiga has been A Business Machine. _________________ Quote:

Other people claim otherwise.
There have been direct reports from insiders of large business where Amiga has been and is being used in new fields.
If you have major proof of where it was not used, then we can address the why it wasn't used. Once mentioned and proven that it was never used in a particular sector we can then consider / ponder how we can make the Amiga more suitable for that business sector. _________________ Quote:

Pretty sure ABM as an acronym has never been used, but good luck Polka proving Babylon 5 or Disney as two examples are not classed as businesses lmao Last edited by djrikki on 26-Oct-2010 at 03:26 PM.

I certainly will, I'd love to get into a bit of Amiga programming but find ReAction/BOOPSI horrid to even begin learning. A GUI builder would be a life saver._________________ A600 OS3.1 ACA620 | '030 A1200 OS3.5 | µA1-C 750GX OS4.1 | SAM460 OS4.1 | '040 A3000 OS2.1 | Christian Aid | |

Amiga got many bussines programs. Earlier I saw companies using Amiga software like Final Writer, TurboCalc, WordPerfect and other programs. You dont need to buy Microsoft Office to be happy. Amiga programs are great too :) _________________ Regards, Michal, Amiga user since 1988 amitopia@gmail.com |

Carl's collection of classic hardware software and documentation was amazing.
Even back then there were accelerators and add-ons and software kits / books that were never even advertised to many other countries, so you had to be in close contact with Amiga experts to know what was really possible. Hence "Only Amiga" makes it possible. _________________ Quote:

CBM is an abbreviation for Commodore Business Machines (note the plural form). Commodore sold typewriters, calculators, digital watches, etc. (We all know this.) There was never, as far as I know, a "Commodore Business Machine," so the analogy doesn't quite fit.
If A-Eon, ACube Systems, Genesi, et al can sell boards for embedded systems use, awesome. We can call those business machines. _________________ Sam440ep-flex 733 MHz/1 GB RAM/Radeon 9250/AmigaOS4.1 Update 2 borked A1200/Blizzard1260+SCSI-IV/Z4+MediatorZIV/Deneb/Voodoo3/CatweaselMk3 more borked A1200/MBX1200z/Indivision A500/clockport/RRNet A600/A603 |

Thanks for the plural correction (Machines) meaning more than one machine of course.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_International
Whats surprising is the Classic Parts / Machines sold in greater volume than the NG parts and machines. BUT THIS WILL CHANGE! Last edited by meet.mrnrg on 26-Oct-2010 at 06:55 PM.

Did Carl have anything interesting to say during your Minimig demo? He did say how much he liked small hardware. _________________ Sam440ep-flex 733 MHz/1 GB RAM/Radeon 9250/AmigaOS4.1 Update 2 borked A1200/Blizzard1260+SCSI-IV/Z4+MediatorZIV/Deneb/Voodoo3/CatweaselMk3 more borked A1200/MBX1200z/Indivision A500/clockport/RRNet A600/A603 |

Both Carl and Dale like the MiniMig machines running with a Hard-File and different Kick-Starts etc...
They probably like the FPGA (field-programmable gate array) concept a lot more though.
Seeing KickStart 1.3 on the MiniMig will probably spark a few (ideas) in their heads over the coming weeks / months and then maybe something beautiful will begin to incubate in their hearts. Mainly because they will realize its immense power and potential.
They are aware of NatAmi now also. _________________ Quote:
