| Hi All
I am pleased to announce that since the OWB browser for Aros is now a reality I am ready to launch the new iMica one system. It is an Intel Atom ITX based system that runs the latest version of Aros and can also run nearly all Amiga 68k software using Amiga Forever which is an optional extra.
Aros is becoming a great system for the advanced hobbyist user that wants to run an efficient operating system on low cost commodity priced hardware. The system is priced at £250 inc vat and represents a great internet and creative system based on the Amiga way of working.
For more details please visit our site http://clusteruk.dns2go.com
All the best

| Please note the iMica one systems will be in short supply as there are only so many Soundblaster live cards available.

| Bleh, i really should patent my ideas, and get some money... :) In 2009.01.05, i wrote this (in hungarian) to amigaspirit.hu forums. The relevant part in English is roughly the following:
"Well, on the Atom topic, if you ask me, and if i'd had some money to waste, err... to invest into the Amiga market - as i already said before - i'd fetch some chipset, from a single manufacturer, with great compatibility between product generations (Intel is typically like that, hate it or not), i'd create drivers and a few utilities for AROS to support it (this is roughly half a year for a _GOOD_ team of 2-3 people), i'd hire a good graphics artist, to make it look good, unique and unified, and there it goes for sale with cheapo-machines, kiosks, netbooks, etc. This would be cheap. OK, it's a PC, but still, an Amiga-like alternative on some level"

Great minds think alike eh!
This really is not much of an original idea on my part, just trying to give interested parties a completely working system that they can plugin and go.

Cool.. except for the name "iMica One". Its bad enough the name "amiga one" was slapped on crappy hardware, slapping THAT name on a PC is just as bad! _________________ Men who have girlies in their avatars are Girliemen! |

The name is an awkward one, I would like to call it Amiga PC, or Aros PC but wanted name that sounded like Amiga. I can drop the "One" bit because this was just to diferentiate between it and the full size full power version. I originally named it iMeca, until somebody pointed out it sounded like "iMecca" and I really missed that one.
Still, name is just a tag, it is a small computer that runs like an Amiga would have done if I could have completed the PCI Amiga project. And is just a friendly computer using cheap fast commodity parts.
I am not expecting to sell a lot, just hoping it gives new Amiga users somewhere to start.

How about calling the iMecca 500, and the full size power version iMecca 1000 :D |
