Exhibitors:
Revised (and final!) AmiWest 2010 Exhibitor List ______________________________________________________________________________
Additional information on what the exhibitors will be bringing/demonstrating:
SAM 460ex: Quote:
Amigakit and AMUC, the Amiga Users Group of Calgary, will have at least two SAM460ex computers up and running demonstrations of the latest OS 4.1 version at AmiWest 2010.
AmigaDave: Quote: (tiny snip)
Quote:
enter the Amiga Game Competition for a chance to win a 1.25GHz G4 eMac w/MorphOS2.6 installed (donated by me, value = approx. $50?) and free MorphOS registration license key donated by the MorphOS Development Team (value = 111 Euro/$153), or an A500, or a 1080 monitor, or other prizes.
I am also raffling off a 1.25GHz G4 PowerMac w/MorphOS2.6 registered (registration license fee donated by Pampers from Poland, Thanks very much). Besides all the great people that will be there to speak and give seminars, demonstrate the AmigaOne X1000 and SAM 460, I will be demonstrating MorphOS2.6 on my own table running on 4 (or more) different types of computers. |
Trevor Dickinson, Director, A-EON Technology CVBA, will be the Saturday night banquet speaker.
The Frieden brothers to attend AmiWest 2010: Quote:
Thomas and Hans-Joerg Frieden will be attending AmiWest 2010 with a working X1000 in tow. We'll all get to see this new Amiga computer for its first-ever showing in the United States at AmiWest!
Bit by Bit Software: Quote:
I plan to release the newest version of AVD's SDK Browser (version 2.0) at the show, and will be demonstrating many of it's new features. I will also be on hand to answer any questions about the restarting of AVD/FreeAVD's development.
Carl Sassenrath to attend AmiWest 2010: Quote:
Carl Sassenrath, Amiga guru and REBOL designer, will be in attendance at AmiWest 2010. In the works is a version of REBOL 3 running on the SAM 440 that Carl has in his possession. ______________________________________________________________________________
Demos:
Allanon: Quote:
I'm the only one that is coding AMC. Unfortunatly I cannot be present at AmiWest but there is a chance that the AMC demo will be there (finger crossed)
______________________________________________________________________________
Games competition:
Quote:
Dave Morris (aka amigadave) is sponsoring an Amiga games competition at AmiWest on Sunday afternoon.
_____________________________________________________________________________
Classic clinic (diagnostics/repair): Quote:
The Classic Clinic was very popular at AmiWest 2009, so we're bringing it back for AmiWest 2010. It will be held on Friday 22 October 2010: 5 PM 'til whenever we're done.
We will have at least three technicians to diagnose and repair any difficulties with "classic Amiga" (i.e., Commodore/Escom/Amiga Technologies) hardware. Bring your classic machines and enjoy free food (while it lasts) and great camaraderie.

Here is our AmiWest 2010 seminar schedule.
This year, our video stream to the internet, including these seminars, is being recorded for future reference. If successful, we hope to publish this in DVD format for an as-yet-to-be-determined contribution to AmiWest. Our expert presenters in past years have had more than enough to fill all available time so we are scheduling fewer seminars with larger time slots.
Things are always subject to change, but here is what we have so far.
Saturday, October 23, 2010
9:00 AM - Vendor setup
10:30 AM - Show opens
11 AM - A-EON and the X1000
Lunch
1 PM - Carl Sassenrath and REBOL R3 for OS4.
2 PM - Carl continued
3 PM - Steven Solie, Modern Amiga Programming Quote:
"This seminar will explore the latest AmigaOS API in the areas where things have changed from the pre-4.x days. I also plan to show some of the latest Amiga API changes and how you can save time by using these new APIs."
4 PM - Steven continued, SAM 460ex
5 PM - Show floor closes for banquet preparations.
Sunday, October 24, 2010
10 AM - Show opens
11 AM - Jamie Krueger, Bit by Bit Software
Lunch
1 PM - A-EON and the X1000
2 PM - A-EON/Hyperion, Q & A session

| @number6 I've booked a table at AmiWest for the Amiga Users of Calgary (AMUC). I hope to have a Sam460ex and/or X1000 to show off at the table. I may also bring along my Sam440-flex system.
If anybody has some cool software to show off please let me know and I can demo it at my table for you. _________________ ExecSG Team Lead |

There is a Super 8 Hotel a few miles away on Madison Avenue at $42.49 a night (not including room tax), and there is a Motel 6 a few miles away in North Highlands at $45.99 a night (not including room tax). Motel 6 offers Wi-fi for an additional fee. Wi-fi at Super 8 is free. Motel 6 offers coffee. Super 8 offers a breakfast. Of the two, the Super 8 is the higher quality establishment. http://www.motel6.com http://www.super8.com
So, if you stay at Super 8 instead of the Holiday Inn Express, for 3 nights you'd save over $100 (that's including any tax you'd save).

| @RobertB I ended up booking at the Holiday Inn Express in the end.
Plus the hotel is brand new so it will have that new hotel smell. _________________ ExecSG Team Lead |

This is not a safe area at night. The motel across the street may be a brothel. (It's been raided by the sheriff's department.) This section of Watt Avenue and Auburn Boulevard is well known locally for prostitution and crime. You have been warned. EDIT: Basically, avoid anything with a North Highlands address. If it were me, I would stay at the Sheraton or the Hyatt in downtown Sacramento. They're really not that much more expensive. The Hilton off Arden Way should be OK as well. Has anyone stayed at the Holiday Inn off Madison Avenue recently?Last edited by Trev on 13-Sep-2010 at 06:52 PM.

| @number6 Dancing fruit doesn't count as content? Bah!
Speaking on content, are there any seminars people would like to see at AmiWest this year?
Last year I did a thang on Amiga Python modules. This year I'm thinking of doing a "Modern Amiga Programming" seminar where I explore the new ways to do things (e.g. new DOS API for scanning a directory) and so on. Ideas are welcome. _________________ ExecSG Team Lead |

From an European view, I find it great that an Amiga event can take place in North America.
I wish you a lot of fun !

| @thread,
As I have done for the past 2 years, I will again be showing the latest version of MorphOS2.x at the AmiWest 2010 Show this October. This year I will be showing MorphOS2.5 or 2.6 (if released in time) on four different computers, including; my Efika inside a new case that I am working on, 1.5GHz G4 MacMini, 1.25GHz G4 eMac (more about this machine below), and finally, MorphOS2.6 Beta Release (if the Public release is not finished in time) running on my Dual 1.25GHz G4 PowerMac. A demo of the "Pack Ultimate" (organized by Papiosaur) for MorphOS2.5 and above will also be shown on one or more of the above computers.
I will also be running the Amiga Game Competition again this year and have even better prizes for the winners. The grand prize is the above mentioned 1.25GHz G4 eMac w/1gb RAM & 160gb hdd set up to dual boot MacOSX & MorphOS2.5. The MorphOS Development Team has agreed to donate a license key to the winner of this computer upon completion of the competition. The eMac also has an AirPort card installed for WiFi & a Bluetooth module which are supported when running MacOSX (no MorphOS support yet). Other prizes include a stock A500 and a AmiKit CD plus more. (if anyone has other Amiga gear or software they would like to donate to the prize fund, please contact me ASAP) There will be a small entrance fee to participate in the Amiga Game Competition this year, $75 divided by the number of participants (only used to defray a portion of my costs to attend AmiWest).
I hope to see many of you there, please introduce yourselves. It is going to be the best AmiWest in many years, if not ever, so don't miss it. Also don't miss out on winning a dual booting eMac w/registered MorphOS2.5 license key, Amiga A500, or other prizes by entering the Amiga Game Competition.
Edit: With Trevor Dickenson and the A1-X1000 at the AmiWest 2010 Show and the Sam460, plus many other new items and news announcements, how can any of you even think about missing this year's AmiWest Show?!? It is going to have lots of everything for everyone, plus the usual great fun when a group of Amiga users get together. DO NOT MISS THIS AMIWEST SHOW! It would be great to see Amiga C seminars on a regular basis.
If you did a monthly C programming tutorial I would pay money for it.
I cannot attent Amiwest, I hope the seminars are recorded
@thread
The news I want to hear at Amiwest would be :
1) What has been happening at A-eon/ Hyperion past few months. 2) X1000 release date, CPU reveal date, exact cost. 3) new software team to update API/software apps or teaching material. (CATS) 4) Reasure community the future is bright.
A bounty should be created to reconstruct a NEW RKRM for OS4. _________________ Download 499.26 Mbps, 659.94 Mbps Upload :) |

Based on the following, please do not send any more donations to AmiZed to cover this year's attendance at Amiwest.
Quote:
No AmiWest 2010 for AmiZed
Hello everyone, just wanted to first thank ssolie for pimping the AmiWest 2010 donations on my website. I was kind of dumb founded when I checked my email to see donations all of a sudden after months of nothing. But I wanted to thank the folks that did donate today. I appreciate it. But...
It appears that because of events that transpired earlier today (Monday), that I won't be able to make the trip. So the question is now, should I roll it over or refund it. If you're one of the folks that donated, be on the lookout for an email from me, asking what you would like to do. In the mean time, I'm going to take the page offline till I know. But rest assured, I am going to put up an AmiWest 2011 page. And this time, pimp it a little better. LOL
But thanks for all the comments about the show, and thanks for listening! __________________ -=:[ Rich Lawrence : Producer of Amiga Roundtable Podcast]:=- Call the show! +011-315-520-8330 |
