@Bobsonsirjonny

Yep. It's very sad and really good at the same time. I guess I should drink to the memory of Commodore and to Hyperion and the other guys who are doing a great job on AOS 4

Maybe a glass for Alan as well

And all this time has been wasted in hunting down tiny terrorists while Medhi Ali and Irvin Gould are let to run free...

A firing squad would have been too good for those two.

I wonder if Dave Haynie and Co are having a Reunion party, it'd be cool to find out what happened to all the C= guys and girls.

@Bobsonsirjonny

After 40 seasons in the "wilderness" are we now crossing our own Jordan?

Perhaps something for that tablet to do.

A crowd of Amigans beginning to cross theJordan, only carrying an A1 ahead of them.

Yepp, time really does fly. But as many of you already said. It's been 10 years. It's time for a comeback!

From: a chair in front of my computer.

There is a great lione in "The reat Muppet Caper" (Yeah, only one.) Miss Piggy (Piggy Lee, she was originally called) is bemoaning the fact that she is miles from where she needs to be, and no way to make it back in time. Suddenly, a semi roars by the ally in which Miss Piggy sits. The truck hits a bump in the road, causing the rear to pop open, and a motorcycle, complete with helmet and riding gear folded on the seat, to roll out of the back, all the way to the place Miss Piggy is now standing. The rear wheel softly bumps into the wall, causing the kick stand to pop down, and the cycle comes to a perfect stop. Miss Piggy stares at it for a moment, then slowly looks at the camera, finally gasping "What an unbelievable coincidence!"
So here's mine:

Just got a bit of dosh my ex can't touch, so I ordered a long overdue Catweasel Flipper for my AOne, and decided, since I've NEVER actually seen it, to oreder "The Deathbed Vigil" as well. It arrived yesterday, so I watched it last night

"What an unberlievable coincidence!"

I hadn't even connected the dated until I saw this thread, though the year had registered with me.

Dave,. et al: Sorry, mates. But I want the sequal: What were Ali and Gould doing that day in the Bahamas? (Dave: Ever think of intercutting a few stock shots of the beaches there with the angst footage to give a feel for how management might have been suffering at that time?)

Anyway, happy death day, Amiga. Commodore is dead. Long live the AOne!

@Martyn

I glad someone else remembered.

I've just spent two hours watching the DeathBed Vigil on AF6

@voxel

Yeah that was a sad, sad day allmost like a chock. I hope that Dave Haynie will give AOS 4 a try and say what he thinks about it as well. Commodore did many good things and lots bad things too (to themselves). Still the Amiga is too good to die and with AOS 4 around the corner I'm sure it will feel close to the early days. I know that I will play all those oldies on UAE and enjoy AOS 4 very much.

Damn! I really would've liked to see AAA. The release of an A1400 and an A5000. That would've been something.

I was 12 when Commorore went under (sheesh, that seems like an eternity ago! ), so it didn't really register much with me. Strangely ironic that the OS4 pre-release is nearly here on such a fateful aniversary (or should that be amiversary??)

Let the good times roll

The death blow was delivered 10 years ago, and the Amiga is still around...although I have to admit it is more undead than it is alive at this point. Still, it's an increadible feat for a computer platform to hang in this long without any major new hardware releases. The AmigaOne has been around for a while, but until it has AmigaOS running natively on it, even I can't fully consider it to be an Amiga. 10 years is an awful long time to wait. That we have been willing to do it says a lot about how great the Amiga platform was.

10 years I've been waiting, and now I'm expecting to turn my Teron PPC motherboard into a new Amiga within weeks. I'd thought I would be excited at this point, but somehow I'm not. Over the last few months, I've grown a bit tired of computing in general, actually. I think it started when I switched to using Linux as my main OS. I hope OS4 will bring back the Amiga feeling.

Computing is no fun without Amiga.

Kay
