If everything goes as planned I will be at next weekend's 'Fun Of Computing 2004' event to be held in Ilmenau, Germany. It will be quitte a trip and so my time-shedule will be pretty tight. I will probably only have about 1 and a half hours time on Saturday and 1 hour time on Sunday.

I have already been in contact with Jens Langner, as I plan to take some videos of his AmigaOS4-beta demonstration. Have a look at Stéphane Guillard's OS4 Presentation sheets from last weekend's event in France. What of AmigaOS4-beta would you guys like to see in action?

As I will lack the time myself, a professional photographer will take pictures for a picture report.

@MikeB

Well, I hope they show more than they did at the finnish meeting. Not that I want to put down the efforts of the organisers there, but as far as I can tell not much was shown!

There is a lot of cool stuff in the hands of the beta testers right now that should be shown... I wish I could say more!

@xeron

From Ann.lu

"Jontsa demoed G4@800MHz AmigaOne (perhaps with Radeon, can't remember). He demonstrated us at least the following:
UBoot, 2nd Level Loader, Early Startup, Workbench, Amidock, Multiview, AmiPDF, Audio Evolution, Mixer, Amplifier, DV Player (3 at the same time actually), Native P96, Native MUI, PC Task (!) AMP, some SDL games, RoadShow, IBrowse, A-Web (not the latest native though), Crisot's demo, Quake SW-rendered, RayRace, GUI prefs, Intuition features. I witnessed no Grim Reapers or crashes. "

I don't say it's a lot, but it's not that bad as you make it sounds like (it the comment on ann.lu is true)...
(Maybe it was shown very quickly so many people missed it?)

@Menthos

I think too much was shown.

On MOS1.5 they focused only on new things. The rest of the time people could play with all MOS stuff and apps.

On AOS4 demo it was not clear to me what was new and what not. It seemed everything was shown... or perhaps everything was changed/updated then...
In the end not too many apps were shown. (or perhaps I missed them because I went to play with the un-used AOS4prebeta machine)

(some things was forgotten on both demos, RAD disk booting with MOS etc...)

@MikeB

The theme that Toaks (IIRC) has been building was awesome. Please do not use the default theme (all the time) with old glow icons.

You combine this trip with a work related thing?

@Menthos

That's true, but probably there were a lot more of demos, but I can't remember and I didn't even see everything. I think if Jontsa had had JIT and PowerIcons, it would have been almost perfect.

Nope, just going for fun. I love to travel and visit new locations, the AmigaOS4 demo is just a good excuse.

At first I was planning to go to the 'Computer & Videobörse' (founded and organized by an Amiga usergroup!)), which is to be held in Bremen, Germany on the exact same days. The Frieden brothers did an AmigaOS4 demonstration there earlier this year and before them I believe Jürgen Schober already did an early OS4 demo there.

However this time they can't come and so I decided to go to Ilmenau instead.

All of it Mike

@The_Editor

Put some signs up, so people can find it (e.g. Bobson)
I mean I had to stop and ask a local,and he didn't know where it was,and that was only a road away

@ajs

Indeed, last year we took an unexpected tour of the city, followed by an unknowledgable local in a shop.

It was a good thing I spotted Jurassic's camper otherwise we'd never of found it.

@Uncharted, etc.

Maybe with a giant balloon and some red and white paint you could put together something (a beacon? ) to advertise the whereabouts of the event
