Launch Schedule

hakia is currently in "analysis" stage where Web pages are collected and analyzed by computer algorithms. Although this process is ongoing, you can experience a number of the benefits today at our BETA site. hakia plans to debut its full-capacity search engine in 2007

http://company.hakia.com/about.html

Time to update that Launch Schedule!

@fairlanefastback

ProKom laid another 5 mill on their doorstep a few weeks ago.
That may help.

I didn't bother posting it when the news was released, sorry.

@fairlanefastback

I'm sure if HAKIA supported the Amiga Community, we could help them develop web applications to give them value..
(If you are not sue, check here)

But as long as they don't support us, we don't support them

I just find it interesting seeing the common theme of little to no output (visible output anyway) from each firm and missed self-imposed deadlines.

Another common theme you are aware of is how the companies/products? are seen by others.
Let's not forget the Hakia rollout in N.Y.:

Quote:
Hakia: The "semantic" search company showed off a new toolbar that lets you highlight text in your Web browser and save it to your hard drive. A confusing demo: Unless we're missing something, this is apparently for people who are too lazy to copy and paste into a text file.

(that was one of the better reviews, iirc)

Sheesh!

One of the other threads on this topic for those that missed it:

Quote:
Pentti's Hakia.com asks you to try its search challange against Google etc.

I'm watching parallels elsewhere, well only those with good ideas. Seems the people who can meet deadlines are chiefly those on automatic. Those in R&D and those in creative occupations are in part at the mercy of the greed and fear driven tides of finance on which great ideas are selected flotsam, and in part, at the mercy of their own over-optimistic views formed in blithe ignorance of the obstacles ahead. Meeting a deadline is a notable experience! Venture capitalism has to be really crazy.

I hear you. On the flipside there are some big differentiators between the styles of the firm as well in comparison to AI, the Board is listed for Hakia, it has generally respectable names on it like Bill Bradley. They have shown up at some industry events more consistantly. They offered the Google Challange comparison, I think they lose pretty badily, but they seem to be trying to do something. Plus, if they do make a new technology useful to search engines they actually could make a bundle. That said, as a internet technology firm its not too great that the website content is out of date like that.

@fairlanefastback

Well, at least it's nice to see if you type in the word "Amiga" on the hakia.com search "Amiga.com" doesn't even come up on the first page!!

The first, it looks like non-sponsored link, is part of a comment from Amiga.org saying how Amiga should be x86 and looks like it's going on to bash Amiga Inc. So that is good at least.

@AmigaHeretic

Here is an interesting Haika search:

"pentti kouri amiga"

Hit #2: "Shady Amiga company: naming rights for Kent event center"

Ouch!

To their credit at least, they have not santized searches with his name.

@all

From the "watch this space" category albeit a few weeks old:

Note reference to Hakia.

@fairlanefastback

oh dear...

"Club Hakia"

hmm...

"Coming Soon"

hmm...

Perhaps Pentti is employing the successful techniques and phrases used at AI at Hakia now?

(checking for t-shirts as I post....)

Even though the above is for real...there is also some serious news coming from them, including their 1st partner "Berggi", being mentioned.
Hakia Announces Semantic API

Added:
Club Hakia, Berggi info etc.

Too funny as well:

Quoting the Washington Post web site:

Quote:
The only problem is that the link the company provides to get more information about its Web syndication services takes you to a sign-up page for Club Hakia. And once you register, the entry for Syndication Services says "Coming Soon." Lame.
