Have you noticed it?

At least "Amiga" is not "AmigaOS".

Back from the past!

Their AmigaOS page does not include any development after 2006 (even ignores OS 4.1) and now when they sold the licence for name, why do you need to contact them? They should remove the contact button

Only if they realise Snowmaker 2011 I will start to respect them!

So what.

Who cares aboyt their crappy Commodore PCs.

They are not Amigas but PCs, I am just not interested in anything AInc have to offer.

"Mr. Barry Altman, President and CEO of Commodore USA, LLC states "We are ecstatic to be partnering with Amiga Inc. in this new, exciting product launch. "

It make you laugh. I bet he won't be so ecstatic when Bill McSue-em sends in the lawyers in about a years time !

Anyone with half a brain cell would not do any business with AInc by now.

IMHO, C64x will be very cool. I wouldn't buy a standard PC box from them, but C64x as it is now takes care of all my PC needs and does it so in a small and practical format. I'll replace my boring PC box with it as soon as I can.

Erm...

So, let me get this straight.
We've seen the reaction of the community to this here. C= had admitted the reaction has been pathetic, and yet the press release says we've been awaiting the return of the brand.

me rereads AW to see where I've gone awry with my reading comprehension...

Nope. Seems the community is here, not elsewhere. For a moment I thought they were referring to another community. But Bill's letters always arrived on the known Amiga websites, like AW.

Quote:
I want to thank the loyal members of the Amiga community for sticking with us through thick and thin.
Bill McEwen

Are there copies of similar letters sent to some other places I don't know about?

The way I would read this (sorry if it offends):

1)C= and AI did know there own plans to do what is indicated in the above press release. (obviously)
2)They went to community websites for support prior to issuing remarks indicating community support..in hopes of actually -having- that support prior to saying that they did.
3)When they did not receive that support, they went ahead and made that claim regardless of what they saw.

Yes, I understand this is how business works, but this might be going a bridge too far. But again, there might be some other Amiga community of which I am totally unaware.

from AI's web page:

"One thing that characterized Amiga people and their inventions from the very start, was a commitment to empowering each user. Now, Amiga has transformed itself into a software company dedicated to creating applications and services to help people access and control the content of their unique digital environment. We call this Digital Living™."

transformed into a software company ya and WE call it "Digital Lying"

So as I understand McEwen licensed the Amiga name to CUSA, but at the same time is now seeling the IP itself via Pluritas?

Honestly, I have not gotten that far with looking at this, so I have no comment. I'm still stuck with the interpretation of community reaction compared with what they are currently trying to portray.

I have no issue with people here wanting to talk to either C= and/or AI about opportunities. That is their choice, of course. But this bit about community is somewhat mind boggling.

Definitely..

And also, CUSA should update or remove their press-release about AROS support now, after all it seems it'll not happen anymore..

@Shufflepuck

Something else is troubling as well:

http://amiga.com/about/contact

The use of the word "affiliates" and then mentioning "AmigaOS".

Perhaps I'm making too much of this, but it leaves a taste in one's mouth that somehow Hyperion and Amiga Inc. are closer than we know them to be.
Correct me if you see this differently please.

Hey it doesn't look any different! Still nice in IBrowse.

Oh wait there is a news item. ACQUISITION? Sounds misleading. C= didn't buy it of Amiga. Or buy them out. Yet.

Quote:
We have now successfully negotiated the acquisition of two legendary brand exclusive trademark licenses.

They've got two trademarks. Is that C= and Amiga?

Quote:
Our efforts will now continue in acquiring the third and final brand license,

I don't trust that statement. Does that mean they after after AmigaOS?

The content says they are happy supporting AROS. Thought that went sour. Good for them.

Actually I see a lot of people saying these days that the AmigaOne is just another PC. Since everything is PC nowdays.

So does that mean you are happy for C= USA and Amiga to make deals together?

I think that text has been written in 2000, and hasn't been changed since then, when the relationship between AInc and Hyperion was still in place
