@Raffaele

I was in contact with Tobias, as he already fixed many endian issues before this one before. But he had to work on an older branch (600) for some time, because on OSX Leopard PPC, there wasn't a recent enough GCC, with forced him to generate huge patches to reimplement c++11 parts.

Anyway, it's good to know he could work on r601 branch and fix javascriptcore endian issue there, as it's much more recent. When my free time allows it, i'll update to this branch and merge morphos code.

Hello Fab, nice to see you here.

Check also AmigaOS Deadwood OWB. He said he solved the long annoying memory eating bug.

Regarding Tobias Netzel please do quick your update and tell if it solved our issues, so I could give the bounty prize to Tobias that really deserves a good reward for the job he made!

@Raffaele

If Tobias have/will fix the issue it will be a revolution in ppc browsing.... this because the lack of Jit is present on Linux browsers too.

Tobias Netzel solved endianess issues in memory calls by Javascript engine. And this is already a big milestone.

For the JIT we have to wait for Bigfoot who is dealing with JIT javascript addressing variables in 64bit low endian memory stack spaces.

He almost solved all bugs except the last sneaky one that presents itself randomly so Bigfoot is still not capable to get rid of it.

[EDIT]

Can't wait to see on my MorphOS an enhanced 1.25 version of OWB with RAM bug solved by Deadwood patch, Javascript running flawlessly thanks to Netzel, with new Fab Spoof features and powered by Bigfoot JIT. It will be the best performant Amiga Browser, letting many browsers from other platforms biting its dust...

Next big step in OWB will be to realize a Cookie Control Panel, that will deal with separate cookies for any visited site, in order to avoid spreading navigation infos and get rid of profilers, and obviously a more robust and usable way to handle Bookmarks, with a more decent bookmark list method, maybe based on standard Amiga Icons.

@tlosm

So you affirm there are still lots of bugs afflicting PPC Webkit patch made by Netzel?

Dunno... ask OlafS who is in direct contact with Deadwood... Deadwood could solve your dubts.

Or I could just ask Deadwood personally. However that doesn't solve the issue of you making estimates based on your own assumptions without having a true idea of how much work is involved.

Add that to the fact that it could essentially become a moving target and your bounty seems to be very flawed.

Then they should grab it from TenFourFox. Since Linux does have FireFox. But my only impression of PPC JIT is from TenFourFox so maybe not the best example as I didn't see it improve web browsing. My 1.5GHz PowerBook has 2GB RAM and I could see it struggling. Then again my phone has only 1GB shared RAM and that seems okay even if it has four cores. So maybe it is OSX dragging it down.

@Raffaele
on my experience yes, but probably Tobias is working for make it better... from december i dont see news ... debugging? fixing? adbandoning? who know?

Well I tried and it got as far as loading all the data but then got stuck on emulator loading. Well I gave up after a few minutes. Something looked wrong there.

A bounty for 'Fixing all endianess Bugs' still seems stupid to me.

Because:
1. A programmer will (often) not recognize an endianess Bug when starring into the code.
2. Testers can't decide if endianness Bug where fixed when the developer asked for his money.

Better there would be a list or description of errors, that should be fixed by a developer. I would not ask if an error was caused by endianess, a wrong data type or the phase of the moon, as long it is fixed.

When Netzel announced me of his Webkit for Safari on Bountysource he had committed release on 20 february.

If you check today again, his new commit was three days ago, so he is continuing developing tirelessly.

@tlosm

After looking it doesn't look like it needs a simple JS JIT, it's more involved. It needs a little endian CPU and runs on Asm.JS which isn't available for PPC or so it said. You might as well say it needs a Intel CPU.

In my mind a proper script JIT would translate script to code whatever CPU was running. Still I could not find any web sites after a brief search that could test a JIT working.

It actually might only work on PC. I loaded it on my phone. Internet browser gave me file load error. Chrome loaded it all but then gave me an amusing "Aw, Snap!" error with no details. So do you have a proper JIT test and not some game emulator?
