| On this homepage you can download a read-only NTFS filesystem for AOS3 and Morphos
http://home.elka.pw.edu.pl/~mszyprow/programy/
but does it work under AOS4?
Who has tried it?
Thx.

Why would anyone want a READ ONLY file system, just because it is NTFS!?? |

Well, only if a (fast) network sollution, or a CD/DVD isn't an option or available putting in a NTFS formatted HD in your Amiga would be the fastest way to acces the files on the Amiga..
Or offcourse an external HD. _________________ ~ Everything you say will be misquoted and used against you.. ~ |

Aside from the obvious reason of reading files directly from an NTFS hard drive, this can also be used to circumvent Windows file security.

| @Foody If a port for Aros existed it would be great. You could access all the data that reside to your windows partition. _________________ So we must exercise ourselves in the things which bring happiness, since, if that be present, we have everything, and, if that be absent, all our actions are directed towards attaining it |

Thats what Samba is for. Its a waste of time having NTFS on OS4. Windows sucks. Ext 3 is a far more needed journalizing FS for filesharing purposes. (chances are you'd want to share files with your Linux install, but then again, Samba takes care of that.) |

Lighten up guys. I think it's pretty cool. It's a faster option than xferring everything over a network. _________________ "If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you." - Oscar Wilde |

samba doesn't take care of anything of the sort, if the disk you want files from is attached to your A1. You can share files between AOS and Linux on the _same_ system easily enough by using a DOS/vfat partition for filesharing between the two.
For someone that's got a WinUAE install on their Windows box with perhaps a lot of ADFs and/or docs and data they want to transfer, it's not a bad thing to be able to move the HD over to the A1 to copy everything at once, instead of grabbing possibily GBs over the network as a one-time file transfer.
Just because you see no need for it, doesn't mean no one will make use of it.

Back in my day we didn't have serial cables, we had to retype in all of our software from Compute's Gazette! In the snow!_________________ "If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you." - Oscar Wilde |

I've just tried it... i've used an external hd on the usb device... And giggledisk too, to do the mountlist for the dosdriver. All seems to works fine...
...but, unlucky, when I do "ntfs:" I can get only an initDeviceIo error... :(
