Any web devs available for an Amiga related project?

If so, please PM me.

I've been working on a non-profit Amiga/AmigaOS promotion site for some time (well, as work lets up anyways), and it's fairly close to being ready, but the site is using CSS and templates for page generation (CMS generated). Most of the site content is ready, but the use of CSS makes the site borked on AWeb and IBrowse.

If you'd be willing to help and not post the URL 'until it's done' (ack, I hate that term!), please let me know, preferably by email, or post your email and interest/time/availability and I'll email you, either way.

A second equally important part is a PHP bit I need done.

I can manage to get these done, but lack of any recent web dev would likely make it take me literally forever to do, plus I'd like some additional ideas. An account on the site's dev box can be provided once I ascertain you're serious, willing, and able to help out. More non web help will be needed down the road, but first things first. I've got vacation coming up in ~2 weeks (heh, there's a bad number, eh?) and I'd love to be able to go live in that timeframe or thereabouts if possible.

Thanks and fingers crossed

@wegster

One of the CIW students at the place i go to do my C#.NET coding (Computeach) is asking round on thier forums if anyone wants to put some voluteer work his way so he can (when its done) show it as an example in his portfolio. He's near the end of his course to gain his CIW certification... i havent seen any of his work but i could pass him a link to this post if your intrested ?

Or does this job require a die hard amiga fan from this site?

Depends on what he's looking for. It certainly is _not_ C#, .NET, or any other MS technology related. System is LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) based. Well, OK, so current test/dev system is actually BSD and not Linux, but anyways..

So, unsure as to what skills or time he has available...what remains to be done is pretty well defined at this point, but can't be published 'until it's done.' (which hopefully will not be much longer.

It looks like I've got someone able to help out on the CSS/HTML portion which will hopefully work out, although am open to options as so far we haven't integrated it into the dynamically generated parts (long story and hard to explain more than that without 'too much info' ), but still need someone capable (and more importantly, having the time) to do some PHP work.

As an aside, remember when I said in the new OS4 site I felt for anyone trying to make a site Amiga browser compliant, and continue to see the results more important than w3c compliance? Doing single pages is fine, but modern CMS style systems do NOT generate non-CSS pages cleanly by any means, or even CSS pages that are w3c compliant in many cases.

No volunteer work for you. Get back to that web-banana thing you're working on.

@thread
The last version of this project made it a ways, but with little code help besides Showman, which made it difficult to complete, not to mention I laid out a fair amount of $ as well on the project.

I'm looking in to continuing or reviving the project, but still have a need for a few decent PHP coders and web devs.

Let me know if you might be interested...the real issue here ultimately is a combination of time, $, and the number of people that can lend a hand. I had offers for $, but I refused to take them without the site being complete. Ideally we'd have a team of 2 PHP coders, 1 web/CSS (or two 'de-CSS' ) guy, and someone that can be a backup sysadmin to me when necessary. If the site is opened to the public, ongoing funding should not be much of a problem, although the site will _always_ remain not for profit.

The project goals remain similar, but may be ready to be opened with a smaller set of features to start.

Yes, the PMs have flown in, much like the first time. (zero)

It kinda looks like it's the 3 of us again, without help. Remind me again the benefits of the 'Amiga Community'? :-/

(Yes, I understand people have lives, but sheesh! )

Does that mean it's time to read Carl's definition of "amiga" again?

I'm sure I'll be sorry asking this, but what do those words of wisdom ("eh?") refer to, specifically?

@Wegster

I'm just a software developer, not a web developer, sorry. Besides, I may be moving to Milwaukee soon for a new job testing code for a major avionics manufacturer.
