| Hi I dont know if this is in the right forum but if it isnt can a mod move it.
This is a small warning from me for people to not buy anyting of a person calling themselves Tiago Silva/Luis Pereira.
He was advertising a Blizzard PPC 200Mhz with 060 for a nice small sum! I snapped at the chance and email him saying that I would pay his offer.
He didnt accept paypal so we opted for a bank transfer it took me a few days to get to the bak to get the documnets but i kept asuring him via emil that I was very interested in the board.
I eventually got to the bank and filled in the relevent document and got it processed.
It took about 3 days for the bank to process the form and send the money and it did leave my account.
I sent an email informing him that the money had gone....he appeard to keep stalling by saying the money ahdnt arrived.
A few days later he did an about turn and claimed that someone had come in with a better offer than mine and he was sending the board to him.
From my point of view he had sold MY board onto someone else as he had recieved my money.
A few swapped emails later he said that he was sending me my money back.....it has failed to have happened and he now appears uncontactable.
I really want my money back and dont know how to proceed...its possibly been to long i didnt do anythng for awhile as I have been so busy wit alot of stuff to cope with and that I gave him the benefit of he doubt and thought he would send it to me eventually).
Does anyone have any advice for me???
If anyone has any dealings with this person be causious and remind him that he ows me money!

Sorry to hear that he is at it again! I lost 250 Euro to this 'crook' over a year ago (See the posts on Pereira) and have no chance of getting my money back. Same scam, same product. I seriously think he should be permanently banned from any Amiga related site - how about it, Moderators? It is a lesson to us all to NEVER send cash unless you know the recipient personally! Also, don't believe a word of any protests he may make! |

| @Seer And that was a whole year ago? :O How can they let him swindle people for a whole year? I am sure people have complained to ebay? Cannot be that hard to get his account terminated? |

| @Amiboy Too late now, but maybe someone else can learn from your mistake: Never EVER use a bank transfer, because that isn't refundable by the bank. Frankly, I would assume that anyone asking for money by a bank transfer is a fraud (especially on Ebay), unless you have good reason to know otherwise.
edit: That's why Paypal was invented, and it's a lot safer (although not completely). Last edited by ChrisH on 18-Nov-2006 at 09:33 AM.

| I had similar problems twice (!!) with an american GVP memory seller. It was the same guy both times. First time I asked help from his e-mail provider, which led to a situation that he actually sent to payed memory. Second time one of my friends needed similar, and saw an ad from the same person, but at different provider. With my adivice he went through the negotiations but still sent the money, which the seller luckily admitted received. Then nothing from him.
Again I tried to search for the e-mail provider, but this time he used a fake adress. But I could find the closest machine his machine was connecting to, and sent questions to that system administrator (some university in Chicago). This time it took even less time before he came back and promiced to send the memory, and it came the same week via airmail. This time he seemed to vanish and I saw no more messages from him. Maybe he has moved to Portugal...
So I presume it is still possible to get some refund, if you can use the internet wisely. Only problem is if the connection leads to eastern european country or china. Others are pretty supportive at the server machine administrations...

Bank transfer is a widely-used method of payment here in Germany, if you sell through eBay
I got the impression that this guy sold stuff outside of eBay, though - and there, I agree, it's a pretty high risk to pay by wire transfer. Last edited by YoPapa on 18-Nov-2006 at 11:31 AM.

| @Tomas I don't think he uses E-Bay. All people scammed (including myself) have replied to adverts on Amiga specific websites - in my case, this one. He used to ask for cash only, claiming not to have a bank account, so using money transfer is a new move. The sooner he is stopped, the better for all of us!

Full details are given in the reference on the second post. I don't think you will have much luck, though - Pixie has already looked into this. |

| If you can get proof of where he lives (or even just his IP address + times of access) and his actions you should go to the police in his country. Doesn't sound like he's covering his tracks very well so prosecution shouldn't be a difficult matter. _________________ Whyzzat? |

| @YoPapa I had that impression too, but it is common practice for Ebay accounts to get stolen, and then they use those accounts to "sell" stuff requiring a bank transfer (or be contacted privately after the sale, and offered it cheaper using a bank transfer). _________________
