[Poll] Total Amiga magazines future... you decide!

Apparently some of our readers don't like some of our news items. So what should we do? Should we continue to report everything remotely Amiga related or should we only have "official" Amiga related news? Ironically we have been accused of splitting the Amiga community and at the same time been told we should not have MorphOS related news items!

Maybe we should just call it a day and end Total Amiga?

@sicky

Those anti EFIKA/bbrv posts were sarcastic. They were in response to Mikey_C posting the news item. I think they believe that Mikey_C's views are Total Amiga magazines views. They've had a gutsful of the anti blue views lately and were venting.

Voted for "Carry on as you are reporting everything Amiga related.". There is not much news in the Ami-verse anyway, keeping out Morphos topics would make TA less appealing to me.

And I have just finished a week of nights (12 hours per shift) and am p1ssed off at some peoples attitude towards our magazine! We only do it for the love of it, it would be far easier to stop!

In my opinion you should do what you do without looking back at people who accuse you of some ridiculous things. Total Amiga should concern everything what is going around Amiga and Amiga related things. The same thing does german Amiga Future and probably french magazine (I can't recall the name) and I think they have similiar people saying such stupidity. If there are some fanatics who will simply stop buying the newspaper because they get rash from seeing anything connected with MorphOS and WinUAE then they will have to live without magazine. I think it is not a big loss for TA because frankly saying there are not many of them. The bigger loss would be for them. Looking at back issues of Total Amiga all I see is that the magazine is always about recent events, recent tools which appeared with bigger emphasis on AmigaOS (4.0). But sometimes it is hard to demand an issue when there is nothing interesting in the subject recently and it is obvious you need to do something different.

If your orientation changes completely it should be taken under consideration what will happen if there are no recent news about AmigaOS. Probably you will delay the issue or put some old stuff. Such situation can also bring critisism from the very same people because they will start whining why there is no new issue or why the hell you are reviewing old tools. You will not satisfy everyone.

I'd say you should do what you do. Don't mind people who instead of doing nohing should try to take out the covers which blind them or at least start doing something.

Of course the final decision is up to the editors of Total Amiga.

@BodieCI5, Hatshi and everyone else who hates my guts.

This vendetta against the Magazine is TOTALLY PATHETIC.

I have nothing whatsoever to do with the editorial content of Total Amiga Magazine. Heck, I haven't even contributed an article in over 2 years! I have no influence in the magazine whatsoever. Period!

All I have done is post their news items and drawn attention to the magazine. THAT is my only involvement.

However seeing that you guys think I do,

From this point on, I will not promote the Magazine on any other web portal other than the one I help to run.

From this point on, I will not try to promote a magazine that is put together by fine Amiga users, who do this voluntarily, without pay, because they love the platform, instead all that I can see are certain individuals being petty and downright nasty who have an axe to grind against me. Take your bitterness out on me not on Sicky and Rhino, they have done nothing to deserve this vitrol

You lot should be ashamed of yourselves.

I am not gonna post here again. PM me.

I think that the balance of news items in Total Amiga is fine. If people don't like some of them then they don't have to read them. Why make a big fuss over it?

I think I would start to question the articles in Total Amiga if I ended finding something like a review for Windows Vista!

Kind regards,

Francis.

But no one has a problem with their news coverage, it was just 3 users trying to make a point by being sarcastic.

Total Amiga Magazine is a fine publication produced to a very high standard. A lot of hard work obviously goes into every issue- amazingly on a voluntary basis.

We will always continue to support this great magazine as long as it is available. It is a shame that so many Amiga users have not yet tried it out.

It should remain inclusive to all parts of the Amiga Community and according report developments from all parts of the Amiga market.

*sigh*

There is *no* vendetta against Total Amiga, only some blatant irony that was pointed out by Bodie_CI5, redrumloa, BenMatthew, Aminice and me which was solely directed at *you* and your previous vendetta against AW.net. Stop making things up and relax a bit.

That may be the case, but sadly it seems to have angered a few people. If the comments were made sarcastically it wasn't obvious.

Perhaps some kind of formal apology from the various parties involved for any misunderstandings is in order.

Kind regards,

Francis.

@hatschi

If its directed at me, why take it out on the magazine and the people behind the magazine?

You claim that I am an editor of the magazine, Yet you based that on what fact?

Yes, and that is Robert not myself, I am only a part of the team. I was just venting my own anger at some of the silly comments here. I'm off to bed now!

@sicky and rhino and the rest of the TAM team

Believe me, I have nothing against the magazine. In the words of the "wise one", it was irony. TAM in my opinion is better than even Amiga Format. The elipsis in my post in the news article thread was there for a purpose. Keep the magazine as it is.

Indeed it would be... if there was such a vendetta against the magazine.

As should you for such blatant and vitriolic rants behind my back on IRC (which some kind soul alerted me to... mind, this is a heavily edited text). People, here is how cowardice rears its ugly head, when a protagonist doesn't even have the minerals to face me but can only make snide remarks in the recesses of IRC where he knows I would not look:

Quote:

[21:04] MIkey_C-A1: They don't seem to like me on the bunny [...]
[21:05] MIkey_C-A1: anyone read Bodie_CI5's post?
[21:06]MIkey_C-A1: he said the A1 and OS4 were a piece of crap
[21:06] MIkey_C-A1: and that MOS ruled
[21:06] [...]: things fall more into place now that i have read that
[21:06] MIkey_C-A1: and now I know why he was so wanting to bring the mos users in
[21:06] MIkey_C-A1: unity my foot

As some of you may know, the A1 that we sold was to overcomee financial difficulty. I gave Atheist what he wanted to hear on moobunny, and I see I had major success... Unity? Aye. That IS what I was aiming for. I had NO preference for ANY colour, all of that was just a bunch of BS.

Quote:
I am not gonna post here again.

Don't worry, I am fast approaching that point, you can stay here if you want to.

Quote:
PM me.

PM you? How come my last PM to you went unanswered? You know the one, a couple of days after you left the staff in which I asked the reasons why you left. You replied that since we didn't see eye to eye on things anymore then there was no use. To which I replied something along the lines of: "None of those reasons merit your resignation. Were you to come back, I would be the first one to welcome you". You didn't even have the spine to reply with a "piss off" or somesuch.

PM you, again? I think not.

In any case, I wish you well in all of life's adventures and that you meet success with even more success.

Nick
