| Anyone know what happened to TekLib? I only discovered it sometime after it had been around, and by then it seems to have basically died? _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue... |

This project is dead in any respect that matters in an Amiga context. There was practically zero interest from inside the Amiga community, I decided to not push it towards another Amiga lookalike, and so I've silently shut down the commit messages and stopped posting on the mailing list. There are currently only two active developers of which I know, and I'm now working towards an internal milestone to pursue my own commercial interests with it. You can drop me a mail at any time if you're interested.

| @Oppressor That's a pity, because TEKlib sounds like a really good idea - and potentially a much better solution than AROS.
I guess you simply never had enough development effort to get it to the stage where it would actually interest more than the occasional Amiga developer (and you know how few of those we have!).
And for whatever reason, I don't think that I ever saw TEKlib mentioned more than once (in passing) on Amiga news/forums... _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue... |

Nothing is lost. It's all open source, and I'm still working on it and putting things to good use for a living. Have a look on the project description and contact me if you're interested. I personally just don't think that it belongs in an Amiga context anymore.
The various projects had different aims. MorphOS and OS4 were out for binary and sourcecode compatbility, AROS was out for sourcecode compatibility, TEKlib just tried to preserve and improve on Amiga design principles. Of all projects I still think TEKlib is the most reasonable and successful.

Never heard of it (or forgot about it). It looks nice though. It can offer the same portability as AmigaDE. _________________ Philippe 'Elwood' Ferrucci Sam460 1.10 Ghz AmigaOS 4 betatester Amiga Translator Organisation |

| @jkirk What is TEKlib? Try following the link in the first post... (hint: It's probably blue & underlined, and says "TekLib") Last edited by ChrisH on 09-Apr-2007 at 06:05 PM.

I followed the link and the description sounded kind of familiar. Is it like an open-source Rebol or something? |

It's an Amiga-like hosted API environment, essentially. It's got an API resembling the AmigaOS one but fixing the issues with it. _________________

Is it possible that the future AmigaAnywhere 2 / AmigaDE 2 will use a modified Teklib? Is there any other software on Internet similar to Teklib with microkernel?
