Maybe they just want their beeping car back, and worked out how much it would cost them to do it the legal way? And they may *also* have worked out that paying these developers for work in the past will make them more agreeable to work in the future (something Hyperion apparently has to learn the hard way every now and again), and that thus this payment for past work which was done as contractors (not subcontractors, because that would imply Hyperion was actually a contractor for that work) for Hyperion and which Amiga has nothing to do with whatsoever, is actually an investment in the future.
Yes, I know, I don't see Amiga trying to build a future, either. But it certainly makes for a convincing tale...
