| Hi,
I have access to Amiga.com using AmiPass. As I registered with Amiga Anywhere TAO version way back.
Downloading the Amiga SDK 2.0 can be done using the following link:
1) http://www.amiga.com/developers/exchange/ 2) Click on following link
'AA2 Closed Release (2008-01-15)' by Ray Akey on Jan 14, 2008 at 10:00 PM 5 messages, 2 attachments, 2 participants | View Topic
which is: http://www.amiga.com/developers/exchange/index.php?gid=&tid=3
download link is: http://www.amiga.com/developers/exchange/index.php?aid=2&op=sendfile
Quick Review: 1) Easy to Setup 2) Console mode is fast 3) Basic Hi World looks good 4) Video Game Demo Tutorial is quite involved but instructions are given in step by step form. 5) The API is documented almost like JavaDoc but the language looks more like C / Lib Calls. I saw news coming out of the big mobile show that Motorola is looking to use this technology to power games on their up coming handsets:
http://antixlabs.com/
If you look at the site it's Tao reborn. Interesting this new technology is based on C...
It makes complete sense that Amiga is continuing to repackage Francis Charig's offerings. Be interesting to compare the AA2 example with the Antix example app :)

| Nice - the toolchain (and moderate parts of the environment) are based on gcc, but the source code isn't provided and (as far as I can tell) nor is a written offer to provide the source code. Quality levels of IP respect there, Amiga.
(No, I don't think it's malice - it looks like a basically unmodified mingw setup, so I suspect it'd be trivial to grab the upstream source and build a cross compiler for Linux or whatever as well. But given the screaming about respecting people's IP rights from various Amiga employees in the past, failing to deal with one of the most common software licenses on the planet is a touch incompetent)

Very EXITING stuff
Downloading now, not that I am a developer or anything but still like to have a look at what it is. Last edited by Troels on 14-Feb-2008 at 12:51 PM.

it's still downloadable here. Guess you would have to be logged in via your amipass. Perhaps a NDA of some sort needs be signed, remember I did that years ago. _________________

I signed up for it with my existing AmiPass account a couple of weeks ago, but I have to fill in some "Software Distribution Agreement". I might get round to it some day just to have a look. |

| I looked into the downloadable stuff, but till now an exceptional skimpy something, simple 2D API. Mat library altogether 3 consist of a function.
Nothing float, 3D vector, matrix. I not found network solution and she know use cellphone camera.
If he is this the 2.0, what the previous was like :)

Yeah, a pity I didn't sign that NDA back then, or else I could also download the stuff now with my AmiPass and disclose some info on what it's like.. |

| Any company that is serious about attracting a vibrant 3rd party community should have a publicly available SDK that is a a few second google search away. LightWave 3D 9 is a good example.
http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/developers/
Making developers jump through hoops to get your SDK or limiting availability in any way limits applications released for your solution. Developers just have such a wide choice of options today they usually ignore closed or hard to get SDKs. Last edited by DiscreetFX on 14-Feb-2008 at 10:42 PM.

Presumably you've signed their NDA previously? If so, it's certainly legit.
Either way, if AInc screws up their own website and makes something semi-publicly accessible,' that would be their fault, not yours.

100% in agreement, for anything remotely resembling mainstream potential use.
Maybe someone will eventually explain why someone would REALLY want to use AA2 over Java, C#/.Net, etc...but this is not a great way to promote a 'new' product that relatively no one knows about nor cares about.

AA2 is not based on anything from the old Tao, nor from the new Antix. Amiga's solution is completely independent and fully controlled and owned internally.
One major and obvious difference is that Amiga's solution does not require any "player" like AA1 or this new Antix thing do. Built applications are downloaded as native apps for the target device, meaning lower memory footprint, no mucking about with having to have a player, etc.
Seriously, after the disappointment Tao's relationship with Amiga was (over promising and under delivering), I'm surprised anyone would consider that Amiga Inc would jump on Antix's bandwagon.
Also, considering that a number of people in this thread actually have the AA2 SDK and yet couldn't figure this out raises interesting questions about how deeply they've really looked into it and if they actually understand what they have.
Gabriel

OMG, my account is still there. When did I sign up for that.... 2000 for the TAO dev kit I bought?? Well if I have a few minutes this weekend maybe I'll download the AA2 SDK and have a peak.

Did we do an NDA as part of the AmiPass way back then? I don't recall. I remember some were signing NDAs as part of other presented material, but I can't recall that when I signed up on the web site.
