| Hello people!!
As I have lost my ethernet connection on my Amiga One 2 weeks ago and there is no turning back I am a bit sad without surfing the web with Ibrowse.
I have a recent and good net connection on my new PC laptop with a 3G USB modem attached to the laptop.
My question is: Is there a way to share this connection with my Amiga One?
Can I connect with some cable the laptop to the Amiga One and share same connectivity?
I don't want to navigate more with my laptop I want Amiga surfing sooner than later.
Is there a possible solution with this USB modem or not?
Help will be really appreciated. _________________ AMIGA 500 1.5 MB ACA500/ACA1232 accelerators AMIGA 500 German CD32 unexpanded Amiga 1200 Tower on AmigaKit since years AMIGA 1300 030/50 Mhz/32 MB WB 3.9 with lots of games&demos AMIGA ONE XE G3 PPC 800 Mhz/1 GB RAM/RADEON 9250 128 MB/SATA CONTROLLER |

Yes you can share the connection easily with Windows, right click the 3g connection, select properties. check "allow other users to connect trought this internet connection" and choose your ethernetcard below.
(i'm using swedish XP so i'm not sure it's correctly translated to english).
There are also 3g routers available... Last edited by fryguy on 21-Mar-2009 at 10:30 PM.

Yes, first you must establish a connection between A1 and pc. Then, in Network connections you will see icons for LAN-card and wireless modem (3G icon), simply right click on the 3G icon and "bridge connections".
Also see what Fryguy wrote, about allowing others to connect.Last edited by tomazkid on 21-Mar-2009 at 10:35 PM.

Is out of technical or logical thoughts is about a dispute with some member of my family I am not going to mention here.
Anyway nice to see that is possible to connect my Amiga One to the laptop and share the same connection.

I assumed you are using Windows btw.
So the advice above was for XP. _________________ Site admins are people too..pooff! |

Where can I find the 3g connection?
I remember to you that I have Vista not XP.
I configured a wireless net on Vista and I have attached a 56k modem cable between the laptop and my Amiga One.
Is this cable suitable for the cause or may I get another one?
Is good to hear I can do it,now I have to know how to make it right. _________________ AMIGA 500 1.5 MB ACA500/ACA1232 accelerators AMIGA 500 German CD32 unexpanded Amiga 1200 Tower on AmigaKit since years AMIGA 1300 030/50 Mhz/32 MB WB 3.9 with lots of games&demos AMIGA ONE XE G3 PPC 800 Mhz/1 GB RAM/RADEON 9250 128 MB/SATA CONTROLLER |

The best option would be a TP-cable between A1 and the Laptop. Modem cable sounds a bit slow.
Just a guess here, but this should be where the 3G and LAN connections are.
Guessing, since I don't use Vista myself, I know XP, 2k3 and 2k8 server, but Vista I have only used a total of 2 hours, of which 1 hour 55 minutes was to troubleshoot a friends laptop screen. _________________ Site admins are people too..pooff! |

Oh, ok, didn't understand, thought maybe your A1s NIC died and was going to point to replacements, including the gig ethernet driver on os4 depot.

TP-cable = network cable (should be available in any computer store). And i don't use vista but it should be pretty similar.
Settings -> Network connections or something like that. Last edited by fryguy on 22-Mar-2009 at 03:16 PM. Last edited by fryguy on 22-Mar-2009 at 02:18 PM.

We are navigating on the same ship Templario.
May I configure the connection only with my laptop or on the Amiga side too?

I don't know, because I use the 3G with Windows.... XP, because with Vista gives much problems, as that now I have that use the Notebook of my brother, because the Movistart plus Vista plus Opera, crasheds my system boot, now I'll install Xp in it, for Movistart works fine, in my Sam I not tested, because one option is use the PC as server and connect the Sam to it, but I haven't much free time for this testing, sorry. |

May I choose only my laptop's ethernet card or may I select the Amiga One's Ethernet card?
Can you be a bit more concrete? _________________ AMIGA 500 1.5 MB ACA500/ACA1232 accelerators AMIGA 500 German CD32 unexpanded Amiga 1200 Tower on AmigaKit since years AMIGA 1300 030/50 Mhz/32 MB WB 3.9 with lots of games&demos AMIGA ONE XE G3 PPC 800 Mhz/1 GB RAM/RADEON 9250 128 MB/SATA CONTROLLER |

you choose your PC ethernet card. I think you should use DHCP on Amiga (never tried OS4.x myself) but DHCP is probably default anyway, so you probably won't have to do anything on the Amiga side. |

I've been more than an hour trying to configure a new LAN/wireless net called "Amiga One" under Windows Vista but I am not sure yet to reach a good port.
I have the Net cable already connected between the laptop and the Amiga One and when I switch on the Amiga it gives green and orange lights.
Is some complicated to me can you help me to configure a LAN or wireless net between the PC and the AMIGA?
I am hot for the work.

I don't know nothing about networks on Vista even after reading the article you gave me.
I have been configuring and trying to redirect my connections to the Amiga but is desperate effort this.
I do little with the Amiga One only with the laptop.
Remember that I want to connect via a 3g USB modem and share this with a new buyed ethernet cable this evening that costs me 3 euros. I have the cable attached to both machines and the results for now are poor no connectiion on the Amiga One yet.
Can you the community release me from this pain?
Thanks for all the help given anyway.
And I don't know how to ping a PC to the Amiga,sight... Last edited by newlight on 23-Mar-2009 at 09:35 PM.

you're barking up the wrong tree.
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/86095ff9-e0b4-4526-9a3a-ea6545dd1e9e1033.mspx
Btw, "the connection you want to share" is the modem
The AmigaOne should be set up quite straight forward as a DHCP client on a LAN, while the PC will automagically become a DHCP server and internet gateway.
btw, you _might_ need a crossed (null-modem) ethernet cable between the machines. Last edited by olegil on 23-Mar-2009 at 09:43 PM.
