| I just heard and read on other forum that 1700 euro ($2500) is the selling price for this new AmigaOne x1000, is this true?.. if so this price is just way thru the roof for a computer in 2010, not many will buy this new machine. what happen to "computer for the masses not the classes"?. |

Don't you think you should post some definite and trustful sources for your claims before posting stuff like that on a forum like this?
(I know forums where they ban people for spreading rumours without any proven substance).

The price of x1000 is not yet announced. It's all speculations. All they said on the A-eon site, was that the price would be a bit cheaper than what the A1000 was sold for in 1985. If this is with,or without inflation is still unknown.

You have two options:
1. Check your source. Ask yourself if this is a reliable source. Then ask yourself if this is too expensive for you or for other people. Then ask yourself who said the X1000 "computer for the masses not the classes". Then make up your mind and live with your conclusions.
2. Or you could just wait and see what the real retail price will be when A-Eon announces it and then decide?
What I think and what I'm gonna do? Option 2. _________________ A4000D Cyberstorm PPC 060@50 604@200 128Mb G-Rex Voodoo3 PicassoIV Ariadne Delfina Lite OS3.9 BB2

| I think we just have to wait for A-EON to tell us what it will cost. Any speculations will just until then cause unwanted noise.

That was Jack talking about an 8-bit Commodore. This is an Amiga class machine with at least 32-bits. |

(deleted) You must remember what we used to pay for Amiga boards back in the day let alone what the whole machine used to cost...
I say keep the price steep
I have no time for people who want to live there lives saving every penny that ever comes there way... (deleted)
don't get a new Amiga (deleted) Slayer is with bitman
Mod's note: I have deleted all the obviously offensive bits above. Please remember to keep a civil tone when you are addressing fellow forum members, thank you.

It really should not be 'keep the price steep', but a proper business driven price based on parts, labour, taxes, R & D, estimated units etc.
From this initial cost price slap on 60%. _________________ Download 499.26 Mbps, 659.94 Mbps Upload :) |

1700 euros is a real bargain, not only you get a shiny new X1000, we'll also throw in a Xorro expansion card populated with 256 XCore chips, giving you massive parallel processing comparable to a 100GHz CPU!
How much would a 100GHz PC cost if it existed? 2 quad-core PCs would cost you 1700 euros already and barely get you 20 GHz worth of computing power...
See? It's a bargain!

Wow, people really seemed outraged at this. If I go to AmigaKit a complete SAM system with 1GB of RAM is $1043.64
The X1000 certainly will cost more then a SAM. So I don't think $2000+ for a complete system is unlikely to be the retail price.

I heard that's just for the shipping cost. It comes in a very big box.

Quote your sources, buddy. It sounds like a wild guess to me. It could easily be correct (I wouldnt know, I'm not privy to any of that information), but I dont think theres any point arguing over a price that isn't confirmed.
