Ah, extra info on the CPU. It will use a 1.8GHz dual core PowerPC cpu.

That part is actually old news, as the speculation has always been what Power ISA 2.04 processor is available as a dual core 1.8GHz part.

after your edit:

Aha. Speculations are news now...

@Geennaam

"design to a third party"

Cisco + Agnilux ??

after reading the site...
To me it seems that xcore will have high bandwidth connection to the system via CPU local bus (Conexium?Envoi?) and via GPIO as well ass connection via xorro.

Next it would be nice to get announcement of a xorro card that has three (unnannounced) 64core xcore chips... or some "GP"xcore chips ...
(really, I do not expect that, but I look forward to the superb I/O possibilities, like BeBox Geekport with steroids!)

Thanks for the link, it's a shame I cannot manage to register for news updates.
I have tried about six times and the security code is wrong each time.

Strange, I've just tried it and it worked fine? I must admit I sometimes find it difficult to read the code myself (on many forums). If you click on the Code itself it will give you another code. Just keep clicking on the code until one appears that is clear to you.

Anyway, good luck

From: Behind dikes, on seabottom. Netherlands, that is. More exact: Flevoland.

Still, it wonders me greatly that there is no rumour, let alone real news, about software. Apart from OS 4, which is to run on this new machine.

But I just can't imagine that there won't be any other software, real killer apps, to come with this X1000.

Oh well, not A-eon's cup of tea, I guess. They make hardware.

Hey, nice site! I am at work right now and I would like to inform that the buttons (down right corner) are not displayed properly on Opera 10.51 / Win XP + SP3 with latest updates. I register though without any problem. It is also nice to have (partial) confirmed that cpu will be a dual core PASami although from the amount of ram it seems that AOS4.1 hasn't achieved smp support and hasn't break the barriers of 32bit yet.

Damn (again), this is surely going to affect my financial situation at the end of this year/early next year ... ... unless I manage to startup some development project worth of x1000 from TrevorD...

I think you misunderstood me. I did not say the speculations were that it's a dual core Power ISA 2.04 processor, I said the speculations were based on that publicly available fact so it was obviously announced at some point.

THe dual core power isa 2.04+ is old. The exact frequency (1.8GHz) is new to me.
Maybe it was already revealed in an interview in a magazine or something?

Hm, I think you might be right. I was sure I'd read the frequency somewhere but I might be mistaken on that one.

Edit: In fact I'm now quite sure you are right, I don't think the frequency was revealed before indeed.

I wonder how literally we must take the "+" of " 2.04+"?

Does it now mean that the CPU is newer than ISA 2.04?

(mostlikely not, it was previously said that x1000's will have PPC ISA 2.04 and newer)

Also I wonder if the memory is on two memory buses, so that the interface is 2x 64 bit (@800Mhz). Or does it require the SMP AOS4 to use the second MMU.

@Johan

...I suppose it is one of the reasons why Trevor has started a "sam for software" scheme...
