@wawa

Ok - this is my favourite part of the statement-following posts:

Potential customer's remark:

Quote:
This feels like Cusa wasn't going to have Commodore OS ready by Sept so for now they've picked an easy to use distro, added wallpapers, gave it a commodore theme plus emulators to have something to ship hoping that customers and the community will be happy with it, which is fine

Answer:

Quote:
What had previously been called COS, has not changed, and is still on schedule for release in September. The only, repeat ONLY change is what I am calling it. It is NOT COMMODORE OS. It is his version of Linux Mint 10 OS. "

@wawa

" We have included a number of licensed game ROMs through a partnership with Cloanto, including the C64 and Amiga Forever collection

Shortly: legal emulation of Amiga will be done by integrating Amiga Forever with royalties paid to Cloanto in future to come "Commodore OS" (as well it seems to be
MINT based

Good for Amiga Forever development, this kind of functionality is already availiable to Linux, Windows and AROS users for 10-30 euros

Amiga Forever website

That would be most of Amiga feeling CUSA will do, and as usual repacking already avail things for sale to lazy, uninformedor in love with their case and logo.

Surely anyone who has a pc running either Windows or Linux can get Amiga Forever and install it...weird.

I see you are confused. Let me explain it to you. Originally COS 1.x was going to be Linux with some changes to make it more "Commodore" like. That same OS is still on tract for Sept, but it's name is no longer called COS but MCE instead. Barry is separating Commodore's Linux version from COS by calling it something differently. This way when COS comes out in 2012, it will not have a automatic association with Linux. I think that is a smart move on Barry's part.

Dont know if its about being lazy. I for one dont want or have time to sit around for days and days configuring emulations.

@dammy

I see you are confused. Frankly we don't give damn dammy, spam your own forum with non-Amiga crap.

And I see once again I spy another thread posted under 'Amiga general chat' which it is not.

@damocles

They keep pushing back your precious COS don't they. Didn't you once say that 2.x was going to be announced soon :D

@Moxee

I think it is :D

This made me laugh a little

If they are happy for you to modify their hardware then why stick a "warranty void if opened" sticker on it. :P

In any case this is more of the usual that we have come to expect from the wonderful C=USA. I expect at some point to see a statement confirming that they have bought out HP, but the sauce comapny by accident. :D

Looks like youre the one who's confused. Dammy had nothing to do with this thread. He simply responded once to clarify something else said.

Seriously guy, maybe you should think before you type? It seems that youll jump in and antagonise people you dont like/agree with at the drop of a hat, without even considering what theyre saying. Make no mistakes. You are a troll of the highest order.

While i'm not interested at all in CUSA's products (except the empty C64 case alone, if it wouldn't have such an insane price) i find this partnership a rather smart move... i mean, this is what Hyperion should've done YEARS AGO: licensing legal ROMs and bundle them.
This is what people expect after all, ther're similar packages for any platform including iOS so i don't get why on earth we Amiga users can't have legal Amiga games on our Amigas... see the irony?

100% correct. However, if you see the track record they dont play to well with others.

Because lots of people would like to use them legally, otherwise we wouldn't have tons of threads about uae/euae/runinuae/minimig etc.
And often, even if you have original copies, can't be bothered (or don't have classic hardware anymore) to start making adf out of them or dump kickstart.

@cha05e90

Integrating UAE (even by the way RuninUAE does) and bundling legal roms (plus some 3.x OS image), would only benefit users.

@Cool_amigaN

I often read that. But I - as a user - don't know why I should need a "3.1 ROM". Further I still do not understand what - except old games, which I don't use/play - I should use UAE for...

Most of my software packages from OS3.x times runs more or less out of the box with MorphOS2.x and AmigaOS4.x. - no need for a "3.1 ROM".
