On the natami site, and I think in both threads, developer boards targeted for Summer 2008.

| Yes, Great Projects... In the FPGA world.
AA+ from NatAmi at first and then AAA+ Chip set technology (plans and sketches) will surface in the next year or so.
There is a lot more to be realized from custom chip set designs and these projects are a breath of fresh air.

| Haynie about AAA:
Quote:
Gateway/AI would have been insane to continue AAA. It would have been revolutionary if released in 1990, pretty cool in 1992, ok in 1994 (the earliest it could have been released on the schedule we had, with a healthy Commodore). Today, it would be a horribly expensive thing with less graphics performance than any old everyday $10 PCI-based SVGA graphics chip. There is simply no point whatsoever. And that's spelled "HAYNIE"... - Dave Haynie, Team Amiga ML, 3/5/99.

| What would be cool. Is if todays Commodore and NatAmi people talked tougether. It seems for me that the new Commodore wants Amiga but have doubts about Amiga Inc. etc as everyone else. So NatAmi could become a different story.
NatAmi + Commodore would be wow. It would change the world for thousands of Amiga users out there.
NatAmi A5000 NatAmi A5500 (with PPC or ColdFire) NatAmi A6000 NatAmi A6500 (with PPC or ColdFire)
And what about beating Atari? They managed to create 100MHz 68060 card. NatAmi should be able to beat that I think.
SuperAGA, 24bit Paula, PCI, 16mb chipram.. This is like a dream come true for millions of Amiga users that have left the ship. It reminds me so much of BoXeR .. but I hope it will be out. NatAmi is the way Amiga should go further with. Amiga Inc. have done to much damage, so its nice going for another name like NatAmi.
Go on, and get this summer even warmer. If you get it out.. Why dont try to make a minicase out of the original Amiga 4000T tower from Commodore? Could stand like a minitower beside monitor etc. That design is still unique for today.
Good luck to NatAmi project!
I wish you all the best.

well, NatAmi looks like a nice hobby computer to have hobbies can be insane, expensive and could be seen as crazy by others, but it's *fun*
You don't seriously expect that anything amiga related is able to compete in the pc/mac world, don't you? _________________ The only spanish amiga news web page/club: CUAZ |

What gives you that idea? Any references, links?
If it's true than that would be cool but I somehow doubt it. If commodore really wanted Amiga then why not either donate to the AROS kickstart replacement bounty, or develop their own, in house and closed, kickstart replacement, and build some kind of AROS / Linux + UAE box? |

The Natami developer already said it is more a hobby or study. Not a project that should compete against existing computers and teh primary goal is not to sell it, but to do it.It is more a study how a next gen Amiga would have looked like. He doesn't claim to create a computer of 2008 but uses technology end development tools to create - (mostly) as a single person - a computer of the mid/late 90ies (where back in the time a whole development team would have been necessary). The fun is doing it. It's more heuristic than economic.
At least that is how I recognized it. _________________ My programs: via.bckrs.de MorphOS user since V0.4 (2001) |

Sent mails to Commodore about this. As I see that Commodore is nothing without an Amiga image of some kind.
Commodore selling PCs is a bit strange and its not good for them. So they relie on their PC gaming sales and have commented that if everything goes as they want, they have intentions of going for some Amiga systems out there. But since Amiga Inc. have done so much damage. They certainly would help out the NatAmi team.

Your post confuses me as to where fact stops and opinion begins

You may see it this way, but aren't Commodore doing quite nicely for themselves in the PC/media market? They certainly have a lot more products than Amiga, and no lawsuits to boot.

It's not that strange. Commodore have always sold PCs AFAIK. Certianly since I was using Amigas in the early ninties.

More power to them if this is the case, but I still can't see why!

since Amiga have done so much damage..... that what?
Quote:

Again. They would certainly help out the NatAmiga team.....if/but...?
Or do you mean that it would certainly be a big help if they were to help out the NatAmi team?
On that point I don't think anybody here would disagree. If they could devote a team to making a kickstart replacement, develop a few thousand boards, bundle with AROS 68k and a load of abandonware games, that'd be great. Exisitng Amiga owners could transfer their hard drives into the new machine and run their chosen flavor of AmigaOS. Everybody wins.
