Yes... I saw this a few hours ago and was quite amazed... this is some nice advertising for the ancient hardware... incredible, it may spark some interest and the history of Amiga will be better known about amongst the younger gaming generation...
Who knows... It is a shame that the CD32 could not be updated and sold as a cheap gaming console... there are plenty of people across the world, poorer families, South America, India for example... well anywhere in fact that could use a CD32 for social gaming, it just needs to be updated...

glad he didn't buy it - for starters the Amiga was a 16 bit machine when it first came out, not an 8-bit.... guy wouldn't even known what he was buying by the sounds of it!

a controller that features an LCD screen on which the buttons will be displayed...??? HORRIBLE, like playing old games on the iPOD. No thanks.

Well, Bobby is quite big for his boots now... I am glad he didn't get it... but also equally disappointed Commodore couldn't make good on their business and just watched it unravel in front of them...

How about giving the guy some credit. He was talking about the time that the NES was huge in the US. The NES debuted in the US in 1985, the same year that the Amiga and the Atari ST were first sold. That makes those products contemporaries even though the NES was 8-bit and the Amiga and ST were 16/32. What he means is that he thought the Amiga could've beaten the NES in popularity. The NES got red hot between 1986-1988, and of course there was a sizable group of teenage gamers who were bypassing the NES for the ST/Amiga platforms to play the latest game imports from the UK/Europe. I was one of them...
People should also be mindful to remember that Amiga was originally going to be an Atari Inc. video game console that would've debuted in 1985 followed by as an actual computer the following year from Atari which was tentatively to be known as the 1850XL(D). Of course, the Tramiels ruined all of that.Last edited by Lynxpro on 27-Feb-2010 at 09:23 AM.

It is not surprising. Sony also referenced the Atari Jaguar controller in that same filing. In their original patent paperwork for the design of the Playstation 2 case, they also referenced the case design for the unreleased Atari Falcon 040 since it directly influenced the PS2 case design.

Activision head thinks a keyboard-less Amiga would have won the 8-bit war

No surprise. I would expect any 32 Bit system to be able to beat 8 Bit systems...

Then I have to admit that I'm glad he didn't succeed.
I would have been very unhappy if the Amiga platform would have degenerated to a mere gaming console, as I'm one of the rare people that use the Amiga mainly for serious tasks and hardly for gaming.

Only those Amigas equipped with 68000 or 68010 CPU were 16/32 Bit.
The MC68020 was a pure 32 Bit CPU with 32 Bit address bus and was able to address up to 4 gB Ram , while the MC68EC020 had an 24 Bit address bus and just could address 16mB Ram. (At least according to German Wikipedia)_________________ Ciao
