Hey guys

after over 3 years I dug out my trusty A1200 that I used as a webserver and guess what, it fired up first time!!!!

Check it out for 1 day only before I pack her away again

www.intuitionbase.homedns.org

Unfortunatly someones taken my old host of amiga.kicks-ass.org

I don't remember the HDD being so noisy though, anyone know anything about these CF to IDE adaptors?

Update: now has a guestbook

They work well in my experience with an A600, work transparently, OS just treats the CF card like HD. No noise of course and draw less power which is good if you have a few add-ons and standard Commodore PSU. The adaptors are easy to find on eBay and cheap.

@Ryu

Hey cool It works!

OS3.0! Even I moved past that years ago. And I was real late when I did.

What's GraphicOS and AudioOS? I haven't heard of that one.

Now about the CF drive. I know that if you have a CF card as a drive it shouldn't be making any noises!

Hehe. If you want to replace a HDD with a CF card it's fairly easy. Just plug one into an IDE adaptor and into the A1200 IDE. With a cable and/or 2.5" to 3.5" converter if you need too.

It thinks it's another HDD so you just format it. Or format it from an OS4 machine with MTB and stick an RDB on it all ready to go

@Hypex

I think it means like "AHI" if you use that for Audio, cybergfx etc....

@klx300r

maybe yeah if the wife will let me

It runs a samba server, ftpd, telnetd and httpd. I'm just looking at adding a guestbook feature to it... It'd be nice to have it running again for me to play around on.

Hi Ryu, many thanks for shipping the Cybergraphix 4 CD I bought from you a few years ago, it arrived a few days later .

The A1200 webserver page looks good and its nice knowing that its running on Amiga.

Sorry to say I'm probably to late to recommend this website for hardware & you can use Paypal, shipping takes about 12 working days & is free to UK with no customs charges.

Still online, been trying to remember how to code too and I've hacked a few things onto it now, including a guestbook, though for some reason its not running all the code so the table isnt rendering right and there's no footer.

I'll keep playing.

Feel free to sign anyone

@Ryu

Are the stats actually generated live?

It looks remarkably unstressed with the job considering it is many hundreds of times slower on paper than a modern PC.

I am impressed. How long did it take to set up?

@Ryu

How did you set it up?
I would not mind getting my php/MySQL project a go on my A1200.

It is a huge project though, that will generate a lot of traffic, I hope.. :)

@-Sam-

Yep its generated live, its only a little arexx script that calls a few dos commands and prints out the results into the page, kinda neat really

As for how I set it all up... err I don't remember exactly, I originally set it all up back in about 2005 and it's been sitting idle all this time. I'm amazed it all still runs fine

I've just added webalizer to the mix, it runs at midnight every day so should always be fairly uptodate.

http://amiga1200.kicks-ass.org/stats/

I'm looking into making that live too, but the bigger the logfile gets the longer it'll take to generate so im not sure how feasable that'll be.

@Yssing

I use "thttpd" as the deamon, probably the easiest and leanest server to run on the amiga, the scripting is done with a mix of php and arexx I've yet to manage to get mysql to run, at t he moment the guestbook is just using a flat file.

@Ryu

I know its a bit late but I'd have thought one of the flash memory modules here would be better/easier:

http://www.mini-itx.com/store/?c=16

(scroll down for 40/44 pin flash memory modules), I've used one in a project here (non-amiga) and they are fine.

Mark
