| Hello,
i have here a C=1942 Monitor, work fine.. But 2 times, the monitor goes black screen, then if you turn off and turn on again, all returns to normal..
Anybody happen something like this with any C=1942 Monitor too?.. I do not think that is about to die, but you never know what could happen.
remember .. do not pass any other problem, such as fading, or toher problems..
Comments?..
regards. _________________ Amiga 1000, 500, 600, 2000, 1200, 4000...

Might be a bad connection somewhere. Cable come loose or soldering gone bad. Switching off and on may give it that slight nudge both physically and electrically so it works again.
Did you try slapping it on the side when this happens? _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft. |

Just 4 days ago, after 4 years and 4 months (yes, 4, 4, 4... just a coincidence) of total neglect, I have exhumed my A1200 from a box in the cellar to see if it still worked and give it to the careful hands of a friend who would have a use for it. It has a 1940 monitor, which, except for the slightly bigger pitch size, is identical to the 1942. Well, guess what: the very same thing happened also to me! The monitor didn't display anything twice. I found out that the problem was with the cable being bent too much in the uncomfortable, temporary position I placed the pieces. Ah, the memories... Yeah.. some research they seem to be cold or dry solder.. maybe in the power supply output .. but.. i will check.. i think maybe the next weekend.. i dont not nudge..but if happen in this next days maybe i can check shaking or tapping the monitor.. This just happen to me 2 times.. in an interval 2 weeks ... but can be a symptom that is about to fail need check something

Great!..
Wich part of the cable?.. the part close to the monitor, or Inside monitor?.. or side of computer conector? _________________ Amiga 1000, 500, 600, 2000, 1200, 4000...

I can't exactly tell, because the cable was twisted in several points (especially close to the rear of the monitor) and also longitudinally (I can't find the words to explain: think of grabbing the cable with one hand, then grabbing it somewhere else with the other hand, keeping it straight and rotating the wrist). I just had to make it lay more comfortably to get everything to work as usual. Last edited by saimo on 01-Sep-2010 at 05:07 PM. Last edited by saimo on 01-Sep-2010 at 05:05 PM.
