Your estimation imo does not hold any water

Porting from OS3 to OS4Final costed Hyperion 1.5 milions EUR - according to revealed court documents.

It's just the same imo

Why you think that porting to some alien hardware architecture will be as easy as porting to another CPU in the same architecture? As you wrote, it take much time to port OS4 even on another computer with similar architecture. Proper port (with reasonable compatibility) to ARM (or x86) would need even more time and more intensive development (eg. money for more developers).

so it depends, where you want to go.

Exactly, if you want 64 bit dual-core CPU and PCIe x16, you haven´t much choices in the ARM world (not yet).

ARM surely brings you much more options

ARM is nice architecture with great future perspective. It is wise to study possibility of porting of OS4 to that family of CPUs. Today there aren´t ARM SoC comparable with PA6T-1682M for desktop use. In future, situation may change. Personaly, I would prefer port to x86.
