| The new ACA620EC accelerator for the Amiga 600 will be arriving at AmigaKit webstore this week.
We have added two new pictures to the product description here:
USA customers:
UK customers
European customers
Canadian customers _________________ AmigaONE. Haha. Just because you can put label on it does not make it Amiga.

| I don't have an A600, but if I did then I'd get one. At that price it is a bargain! _________________ AmigaOne X1000, A4000(T), A3000, A2000, A1200(T), A1200, A500, CD32, Minimig+ARM, FPGA Arcade, Chameleon64, C-One, C128, C128D, C64C, C64, VIC-20, CBM 8032, CBM4032, Efika, Ultimate64 |

It's not advertising. It's merely letting us know that new pictures of the product are available... _________________ Back home... |

I would get excited but I am still waiting for the updated core and utilities for the Indivison AGA Mk2. Without it, the MK2 isn't as versatile as the MK1 on many TVs or Monitors. This was slated for June or July. It's October now and still not a word. Even J ens Schönfeld's web site hasn't been updated for a while. Apparently Hardware support is much easier than Software.

... and even a slow 020 at that. Reminds me of Comodore in some ways :)

Actually 020/16.7MHz is quite an improvement to a 68000 clocked at 7 MHz. Archive handling, disk access and with more ram you can actually run more than one application simultaneoulsy i.e. have multitasking. On vanilla Amiga 600 even audio stutters badly when loading files from a harddisk. _________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook |

Noticed that I have not tried that on A600. It would most likely be the first time I hear audio stutter because HDD access on a Classic Amiga. (IIRC, never had that with A4k, A3k or A2k) _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer? |

I've looked under the TOS and I see nothing to prevent a person or company announcing the availablity of related products for sale.
It would be nice for companies to by an ad, but a large number of our posts are product related, whether it is stuff on eBay/AmiBay, private sales or available from our ever dwindling list of companies selling hardware.
If I've missed something then please post a link. Last edited by Darrin on 10-Oct-2012 at 04:49 PM.

For years I used a 28MHz 68020 board on my A1200 with 4MB of RAM. It is more than enough to satisfy the average user. I still have that card somewhere..._________________ AmigaOne X1000, A4000(T), A3000, A2000, A1200(T), A1200, A500, CD32, Minimig+ARM, FPGA Arcade, Chameleon64, C-One, C128, C128D, C64C, C64, VIC-20, CBM 8032, CBM4032, Efika, Ultimate64 |

It lets you run 3.9 and the maprom functionality prevents multiple reboots for rom patching. You may have a fully patched 3.1 rom + the BBs with no fast ram loss, and a CPU ready to run 3.9 enviroment. It`s not a workstation, it`s an upgrade for those users having a vanilla A600. _________________ Ordell Robbie: Is she dead, yes or no? Louis: Pretty much. |

| @Drewlio77 et al,
It looks like you might be able to add a 68881/68882 FPU. That would add extra speed for some applications.

68000 CPU + slow IDE = 110% cpu load
Amiga 600 is very nice machine still, even with 68000. _________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook |

Why suddenly complain about that now ???
It's been going on for years here and on A.org and very rarely has anyone ever complained about it...
And why pick on AmigKit, what about "advertising" for OS4, the X1000 etc... etc...
Strangely I don't see you whining about those !!!
PS: What's with Arko's post !!! is he translating English into English now or has he just gone mad !!! ... _________________

Just noticed that my A600 it the first Amiga without fast RAM for me. With just Chip RAM the IDE access takes chip RAM bandwidth and when A600 does not have DMA it overloads the CPU, no wonder if audio then has hickups.
@thread btw... The ACA620EC sounds appealing. It looks good enough without going to extremes. _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer? |

| I dont have an a600, but for the money this seems like a nice bit of gear.
To go off topic for a bit though (or to continue an existing off topic more accurately), definately not enough for mp3's. Even on my '040 based a1200 I dont bother with them. It can play them if I lower quality a little, but it eats too many resources still for my liking. There's possibly even better options, but I instead just use wav files when I listen to music on my a1200. 16bit stereo 22050 with ahi set to 14bit sounds nicer than any mp3 I could play, and leaves enough resources free to continue using my amiga. The main downside is that files are about 3 times the equivalent mp3, but using 22khz suppliments this a bit, and its not like storage space is hard to come by these days :)
Anyway, long story short, it'd be quite possible to play music in one way or another with an a600 + one of these new ram card/accelerators, which'd be cool to see :)
p.s. This is all without some sort of hardware assitance like a masplayer for mp3's of course in which case Id assume it could play m3's fine? Ive never used/seen one and would be interested to hear what sort of requirements they (masplayer) have to get proper playback if anyone can elighten me please? |
