EDIT:
NEW BETA !!! :

ibatch beta 27

Changelog:

EDIT:
released a new screenshot of "Batchlist Browser Window" After you created your batchlist, you can hit "show" to view the whole batchlist at once (instead of flipping throug every thumbnail in "iThumb Window" ):

In this case, next action would be hitting "donnot rotate" Button, in order to shift selected entries into none rotation batchlist...

EDIT:
NEW BETA 26 !!! :
ibatch_WZ-beta 26

changes mainly startup problem during librarycheck (see this thread) and better display with fonts greater 14pt..

Hi everybody,

currently I am working on iBatch a Image convert/resize/rename tool with batch mode. I already released an Arexx Version a while ago http://amigaworld.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=4559 , the new upcoming version is a standalone executable. You need:

- OS.3x or 4.x
- jpeg.library
- zlib.library
- wizard.library
- a FPU
- the more RAM the bigger the pictures can get.
- 24 Bit Datatypes

links to the libs can be found inside the readme.txt
I already succesfully tested on WinUAE OS3.9 and 3.1 and on SAM OS4.1u2.

Are you interested in testing ? Here is the downloadlink:

www.geobiz.de/ibatch_WZ_beta11.lha

I am especially interested in:

- wether all conversion/resizing/renaming combinations work
- hints and tips for english translation
- feel free to also post a feature wishlist here

thanks a lot
gerograph

@DBAlex

Apple fan, don't know never had one... but seen from outside defenitly nice computers. But I will invest my money in Amiga, neither Amiga nor Apple can run the software I need for work.
Anyway the name is just a short version of i(mage)Batch !! Nevertheless the name reached its goal people will remember/think about it...

greetings gerograph

BTW Apple Software is considered to be stable, this on is not stabel yet ....

@gerograph

OK, was just a little joke.

I have written similar software using Python and PIL last summer...

It's more of a Photo Gallery type software though, you can create image galleries with different styles/themes... you can choose if you want large thumbnails, how many rows/columns per page etc

I think it's probably faster to write this software without PIL though, i'm sure the raw libraries are faster. (Obviously the image processing is the bottleneck, my software can utilize as many CPUs as a system has, I even tried it on an 8-Core i7! It really flies!)

One way of speeding things up is of course if you have a large image, to create smaller and smaller thumbnails obviously resize the smaller images, don't keep using the source image to resize.

My software can resize around 700MB of photos in about 2 minutes IIRC, these are high quality photos from my D40 camera. (This was on a dual core AMD X2 7750 with 2GB Ram, Ubuntu Linux 9.04).

BTW does anyone know if PIL is available for OS4 AND OS3?

/me starts searching for PIL availability in AmigaOS's...

@DBAlex

Well iBatch is not that advanced, its just written in Amiblitz3 and just resizes Original images to 320 Pixels, and puts them into a dir. It then envokes any thumbnailviewer (define in prefs) to organize the original pics (with help of thumbnails).

Anyway a feature I am actually looking at, is to use the thumbnails from the jpeg exif information header instead of creating an own thumbnail, but thats the future, I don't even know how this exif thing works...

greetings

@gerograph

Since my program was written in "modules", I have a an exif viewer written in Python if you need it.

It relies on PIL though, which I just found isn't available for OS3.x

You can look at jhead, that's one of the best exif tools I found. Written by a guy who used to use Amigas too!

EDIT:

Also, jhead is available for many Amiga and Amiga-like OS's:
