WaveTracer: replacement for AnimatED?

Most people here will know I've been begging for an up-to-date AnimatED-style program for ages, with little response.

For those who DON'T know, AnimatED allows you to add sound, timing and music modules to IFF animations. I've been using it for years and am quite happy, except that it's really showing its age- limitations force me to greatly cripple the sound quality.

So, here we have Wave Tracer which claims it can add sound to IFF anim files, plus more modern formats! How could this have gone unnoticed?

For me, an AnimatED replacement must have...

# Support for resolutions of 640x512, 256 colours or more
# The ability to add different frame rates to individual frames, 1fps to 25fps or more
# The ability to alter the pitch levels of sounds
# The ability to alter the volume levels of sounds

Anyone trying this out?

@RoqueFort

I tried out wave-tracer a while back. I found it rather difficult to use, although I didn't spend too much time experimenting with it. It creates a sound-ANIM, which is basically an IFF animation, with an audio track.

Given your interest in animation, it's worth trying out.

@RoqueFort

I have tested the program on a SAM and launch and work fine on 1024x768x16 but a DSI arrive when clicking on the wave icon (with the PPC version).

BTW, I don't know at all how using this program.

If you are interested by this program, you can test yourself on an emulated amiga computer...

@RoqueFort

Blender can be used to sequence frames.

@NutsAboutAmiga

It can, and can handle import of Anim5 based animations. It can't export in that format, you are 'limited' to the output options of ffmpeg, plus AVI-JPG and AVI-RAW (best quality but enormous file sizes)

@thread

Tried to download that wavetrace but as soon as I clicked to start it it GR'd with a crash in xpk (is the excutable packed?)

@broadblues

Strange, Tested on my SAM. Downloaded the PPC version and the archive update and put all in ram:

Launched the .exe and work fine. Changed the screenmode and read the menus fine.
Just a GR when trying to click on one feature gadget button.

Well, managed to download and decompress the WaveTracer LhA file, but can't run it!

Says it can't find the required libraries!

No .lib files were extracted when I decompressed the LhA, so none to put in Workbench:Libs! Probably something I'm doing wrong, I'll keep investigating.
EDIT... DOH!!! It says download and decompress the demo version FIRST, then decompress the PPC update to the same place!
Why do I never

I downloaded it as well.
But I didn't find the download links for "CineTracer Mark I" and "AnimFX" - are they already included in the WaveTracer LhA file?

Yes, they're included.

No idea how to use it for the most part, AnimFX plays any IFF anim file, which is a start- I was thinking it was all only audio-processing software.

Must be the main app WaveTracer that lets you enhance animations with audio, but looks very complicated- lots of icons! Will take me a while to sift through the docs!

So far it doesn't look like a suitable replacement for AnimatED!
