@Metalheart

G5 needs a special version, which was compiled using a define. One of the PPC instructions is not availavle on G5, so it triggers an exception and it is handled by the OS.
For the next beta I will also provide the G5-optimises MOS binary too.

Assuming you did a "normal" install of RuninUAE....

1) Go to the E-UAE-amigafx directory that was installed on your computer by RuninUAE and rename UAE to UAE.backup
2) Download and copy the JIT version of UAE to the E-UAE-amigafx directory above and rename it UAE.
3) In the E-UAE-amigafx directory, edit the .uaerc file and add these lines:
enable_jit=yes
cpu_speed=real
cpu_type=68020
cpu_compatible=false
cpu_cycle_exact=false
blitter_cycle_exact=false
comp_optimize=no
cachesize=8192
comp_constjump=yes
comp_trustbyte=indirect
comp_trustword=indirect
comp_trustlong=indirect

just before the line near the end of the file

# Additional settings

Also, set show_leds= true in this file and in the .uaerc_RuninUAE config file.

Save this!

4) Double click the RuninUAE icon and select "bootwb" from the pulldown menu (assuming you had it set up to boot from a workbench config prior to this), or simply start any 68k program and allow it to start in RuninUAE.

You will know you are using the JIT if you see the rightmost LED indicate "JIT". It should show flashing green as JIT is used.

Hope that works for you.....

Scott

Nice, but can you also include a special Pa-Semi version for AmigaOS4, as its also slow.

Anyway how do you compile E-UAE, every time I try, it complains about automake.

@scabit

Thank you very much. thats just what I ( and probably some other lurkers) needed. I'll give it a try. I didnt install RUNin UAE myself, it was included in update 5 i think. Is the jit version stable enough to use?

Yes and no. I find that numerous games like Dungeon Master 2 don;t work with it enabled, and even simple tools like tools daemon don't work in my Workbench 3.1. But what does work works fast! That's why I recommend renaming the original uae and putting the uae-jit in the same directory...in case you want to revert.

you have the set uae option on the file menu iirc of runinuae. just a quick menu cmd. put jit uae in a folder in the emulation folder and just select at will.

@Rob

I wrote a gui config program for UAE called UAEConfig many years ago. You can find it on OS4 Depot. Of course, it will not have all of these new JIT flags etc
It configures the basic details.

@NutsAboutAmiga

Yea, probably I need to check what is needed for PA-Semi too. I haven't had the time for that yet.
For now I added a ticket for it, so it won't be forgotten:
https://sourceforge.net/p/euaeppcjit/tickets/21

I compile the emulator under Cygwin, so this might not be useful for you, but it is a simple configure and make, like:
./configure --target ppc-amigaos --host ppc-amigaos --build i686-pc-cygwin LIBS=-lamiga

Probably you can do a simple:
./configure
./make all

@thread
Don't get too excited about the new Petunia version, I have fixed one bug what I discovered while I was reviewing the source code.
I have learnt lot of things from the E-UAE JIT, but unfortunately the structure of Petunia would make it rather complicated to use this knowledge. Most of the code need complete rewrite to make it work the same way as it is done for E-UAE. And it is unknown how much would we gain from this lot of work.

Typical. The G5 is like a 68060. Did Motorola do this?

Did you find the other bug preventing ILLEGAL exceptions from working?

Just C&P the code doing TRAP #n handling as this works.
