MAME4ALL to AmigaOS(like) system? [POLL]

Since I was wrong writing last survey I made a new one with corrected poll options...
Hope that now it was fine and reliable...
Plz vote again if you voted last time to have as many as possible voters...

The topic was the same...I think that on AMigaOS(like) systems the better choice to play MAME was to get version based on MAME 0.37(games was easly findable on the net), that was the faster available for our system to play games at full speed without any skip also for 68k games(many Neo-Geo roms also) than get latest 1.x versions that was so slow on our dated hardware...

What do you think about?

@Tuxedo

Your poll implies that I shouldn't compile SDLMAME any more because it's not Amiga optimised.... is that really what you mean?
I can't see any harm in it... it's not like it's stopping anyone else from making a fully Amiga-ised version.

Could there not have been an option like
"I want the fastest MAME possible but it's also good to keep up with MAME development"
or
"I want the latest MAME to be Amiga-ised but SDLMAME will do in the meantime"
?

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

@Spirantho
no idea but MAME on 68k from triumph certainly was optimized... 13 or so years ago

anyway, a old set would be nice just to see how it is as i know many emu freaks prefer the older versions for the same reasons as tuxedo says.

One know MAME is getting slow when you have to use a state of the art windows machine from 2013 to do the same thing a 2004 machine did with an older Mame from that time (i know...i know , its better emulated etc more support bla bla but that doesnt mean everything when it comes to speed..).

I can't understand exactly what the pool means, we can have different version of the same emulator, from the latest SDL version compiled by Spirantho, to a fresh port of the MUI release by Fab (best one imho) but also the old MAME4ALL why not ? ...

Having a choice is always good, more is better

@samo79

no, he want (and me too) an old MAME port which use new OS features.

not many games will be supported compared to the latest one but what we get is a very fast and good emulator non the less.

@Spirantho

sorry for misswriting...
My AmigaOS "optimised" means to have a mame version with a gui that fully supports AmigaOS features like AmigaInput screen and so on...if also was code optimised was also better...

So better to have an old SDL mame that was fast(also without code optimisations) and attach to it a fully AmigaOS featured GUI than get a latest (and slow also with code optimisations) sdl mame that dont have a gui and no AmigaOS features...imho...

@Tuxedo

But why not have both?
I don't have time to do an Amiga-ised version but someone else might? Then everybody wins :)

@Spirantho

no problem on that :)
I only started that topic to know users point of view and because we have the latest but not the fastest... :)
And also an Amigaished version will be really nice since a proper gui with many configuration options was always good to have :)

@Tuxedo

No argument there. :)

My only problem was with this option:
"I WANT the newest MAME version available but only if full AmigaOS-like optimised and integrated..."

It doesn't make sense to me why you'd not want the newest MAME version even if it's not Amiga-ised - I mean, it's not like it's doing any harm, or stopping the Amiga-ised version from running or something. Surely better to have a non-Amigaised version than nothing at all....?
