Duplication of effort is the hallmark of the Amiga community. I shouldn't worry too much. |

"because of double work"
Yeah. Sad.
But without double or triple or quadruple work we would rule the world. Better leave the mainstream some slack. _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer? |

And I keep asking myself, why there's that (sudden) need for AppStores at all for such a small number of programs. Or is it going to mirror os4depot and aminet to be filled with some flesh? _________________ AmigaOS 4.1 FE (sam460ex Radeon 9200 / RadeonHD), MorphOS 3.8 (PowerMac G4 733MHz Radeon 9000), AROS (x86), A1200 (060 80MHz Indivision MK2), A500, A600, CDTV Wings Remastered Development Diary |

| One common place for developers to publicate their software was needed IMHO.

Easy to explain. While i'm with you, an Appstore would mean easier and more attractive access to software as well as immediate payment with royalties going straight to the developer's pocket according to their agreement with the "store". This also means more interest for the development of new software and it would go like this, in theory at least. Chain reactions in other words. Seems pretty normal way to go. | I always wondered what the point of an App Store was when Iphones came out...then I realized that heck, I hate dealing with web sometimes. It would be nice to eventually see a nice, predictable app that doesn't come with the typical slowness of the web with broken images and poorly rendered displays.

| looks great and good idea to have a centralized place where new & old amiga users can find the latest versions of software because I've had my share of issues tracking down stuff all over the net and still finding out there was a newer version at another location.

| @pavlor : ) Now i am face palming at my self : ) We wrote a encoder and decoder for downloading/uploading stuff and resuming.... They just use a browser.
Well on the other hand why do i need a client than? And why did it take so long?
EDIT: I know it looks bad if I talk that way but this is just my first thought. What I like is the gift system. Makes sense.
What I am interested in is a way to exchange Amicredits to Amicoins/indeicoins.
EDIT2: Ahh I see they moved to british pounds.

They're probably facepalming every time that they see a shot of your app-store. I'm pretty sure that work on the AMIStore was already well under way by the time that you announced yours.

Huh? Where do you get that idea from? Epsilon's sneak preview doesn't show a browser anywhere. He does show opening downloaded PDFs in AmiPDF, but the files were downloaded by the AMIStore client.

| @Hans 2010? : ) No way Even they missed announcements, seeing the slow progress there was always a possibility to join each other. Whatever... shit happens ; ) Now we can start to fight on the content site of things... which may be again good - somehow... Last edited by phoenixkonsole on 07-Oct-2014 at 08:58 PM. 2010? I hadn't heard of your app-store until early this year!

Then why not shutdown your app store and give your help and experience to a-eon?

Besides of the discussion who was inspired by whom and if 2 app stores for a small community make sense I think Pascals concept of a cross-platform app store (including the platforms where people can earn money) makes more sense than a amigaos only solution.
Shutting down the better concept? Are you serious?
And Trevor is extremely concentrated on AmigaOS, if he would have been interested they would certainly already be in contact.
@Pascal
Do not anger about it. 1. the waste of resources is already done, nothing to change about it 2. their app store will not do much harm. Propably some will sign exclusive contracts to only sell their software on that store, then they shall do. The majority will certainly sell on both and commercial developer will decide for the app store they expect the most sales. So the race has started . No reason to be angry or worry. |
