I'm amazed that they managed to get rid of you this way. As far as I can tell you been the one that brought most hope to OS 4 users last months. So long suckers is all I can say to Hyperion for letting you down.

@any AmigaOS user

Could a gentle AOS user please test this mplayer build with AMC?
I would really like to now if it helps and if it works (without any regression)

I still have no AOS4 HW (shame on me)

www.a-mc.biz

You can set a different mplayer binary in AMC's options. This way AMC benefits from new version automatically.

Thank you.

This IS exaltly the kind of sentence which is counter productive. Why this attack ? Maybe for you it is not one but for many it will be.

I do not speak Russian unfortunately but I'll ask a nice Russian girl I know if indeed this the way Russians talk to each other and if this is the case, I'll consider that we are the ones who do not understand your way of talking.

Indeed you prove a really great value during the last two years (Cube, demos, diskmags, mui-mplayer, mui-OWB, imrpoving the system by sending bug reports, etc...), more than many others. But you also prove a form of egocentric behaviour (attacking Jeorg's work on OWB in a very rude manner for example).

It will be really bad if you leave the AmigaOS 4 market but I cannot promote this kind of blackmail ("make me betatester or I leave AmigaOS 4"). This is not a nice way to make things, sadly.

And indeed, if Steven Solie showed MUI-OWB, this proves that you're a very good value for the AmigaOS 4 world as programmer. Maybe you should work on communcation now.

Well, If you go the MorphOS way, try to integrate the MoephOS Team If this AROS, why not, there is a lot of work to do out there.

Good luck !

@kas1e

Like you I've been rejected as a betatester, and I was not given a clear reason either. I was also rejected when I offered to help with smaller development tasks. Obviously I was disappointed too, but I have to disagree on how you're trying to work this out.

As others have said you've been contributing in a massive way in porting MUIOWB and MUIMPlayer, but trying to force your way into the betatester-team is doomed to fail. I know you know that already, so I'm unsure as to why you're doing it this way? If you're motivation for developing for AmigaOS 4.x depends on becoming a betatester then I don't understand you at all? This is a hobby after all, it's supposed to be fun. I'm not saying you shouldn't be a betatester, that's not for me to decide, but I think you're taking this a bit far. I understand you're disappointed, and you've made that very clear with your posts, but please, don't let that cloud your judgement.

Regards,
Joachim Birging

This is for sure about showing some gratitude against users or developers. I feel Hyperion been way to high over both users and developers. It is like they are sitting in the castle looking down at people. The fact is that they relay a lot on the few developers and users left and to not do much about it is to me very arrogant.

And just to add, after knowing that its you make dopus4 port to aos4 , which we all use still today, and they reject you to be a betatester ... pff .. i do not know why you still in itnerest about os4 after that. You do something for them, and they just reject you after your work. Its just unsmart move, really.

Because I'm interested in AmigaOS, it's my hobby. I was interested in becoming a betatester as well, but it's not the end of the world. I was happy developing both DOpus4 and AmiFTP without being a betatester. I also made lots of cross-compilers, because I liked to do it. To my knowledge Hyperion still promote them, and they're still the only way to find cross-compilers if you can't compile your own. But the important thing is to enjoy what you're doing, it shouldn't be a struggle. Not all the time.

I understand when you say you're disappointed, and like you I have also shown my disappointment with Hyperion, but now you're just making yourself impossible to work with. That is not your real intention, we can all see that, but I feel you're just acting only on emotion instead of letting logic have it's say before you post.

I'd hate to lose you as a AmigaOS 4.x developer and user, but you should pursue something you enjoy. If you can find motivation to stay and develop MUIOWB and MUIMPlayer further I know you will find many (well, we might not be many anymore, but you understand what I mean) users praising your work. I'd say you don't need Hyperion but they need you. That should at least give you some comfort.

Regards,
Joachim Birging

That fact is that AROS is not buggy anymore. What is the case is that with all kind of hardware and drivers AROS can be buggy in wrong enviroment. That is why I started AspireOS project. I was tired of all kind of hardware that made issues with AROS.

If you like I will send you ACER aspire one with AspireOS for free, if you will give it a chance ?

This is how things work in AROS land.

Bashing Hyperion (while you do not even use AmigaOS 4 but AROS) only to promote you free way won't help Roman.

@Kas1e

See the good thing of not being a beta tester : you're free to program as you want

Regarding the tone, I could not telle soemthing like : "fonts become too small in MUI-OWB, this sucks. And I get random grim reapers with MUI-OWB the Sam440, it's really bull**it !".

Simply because this not a gentle way of telling things to someone else. I pay attention to my way of telling things, firstly because English is not my first language, secondly beacause I prefer having a nice talk with other people.

There is a good reason why I don't use HyperionOS (AmigaOS 4).
I don't like their arrogant way or doing things.

@nikosidis
this sounds as if you managed to get everything stable with your AspireOS ; )
As far as i remember the needed drivers where made around late 2009/ early 2010.
Except wifi and some tweaks (like removing iMica logo from the Intel grafic driver)

If you wan't the best AROS offers:
Get a ASUS board with supported NIC and HDAudio onboard, add a Geforce (gives you 3D par excellence).

ASUS board allow to use SATA with ACPI enabled, so no need to play in BIOS.

@phoenixkonsole

Who removed Imica logo from IntelGMA driver ? It is still there.

Who are you to tell me what I done or not. You can not imagine what I done to
make AspireOS what it is. I could say this and that about your Distro.. but I don't
It is up to users to deside. From my website I'm pretty clear about thanking the people
that done drivers etc. If you have 2 minutes try reading About section of www.aspireos.com

So what is so much better about your hardware than ACER aspire one exept for 3D gfx.

If you did not notice ACER aspire one is a netbook you can bring everywhere, like most people like today.

I even bought AMC from you trying to support your efforts. Yesterday there was a AspireOS user that wanted to support me with donating money to my paypal account, but I said no. I don't do this for money. I will never have donation button on my website.
I do this to bring users to AROS and if you had a open mind maybe more users could sell more of your products!
