From tfrieden at Amigans.net:

Quote:
I just uploaded it to os4depot.net, so it should still be in the upload queue.

But, it's Release Candidate 1. It fixes most of the medium and major bugs, and a lot of the minor bugs that have been reported on the bugtracker.

In fact, there was a fix in the JavaScript code that was pretty fundamental. The browser itself is written in JavaScript (believe it or not), so this single fix actually cures a lot of problems (for example, every problem related to the download manager and the addons manager).

To that end, I would invite everyone to review the bugs they reported and see if they are fixed.

Enjoy! We're nearing the end of the road (and hell, I'm glad when it's done)

Ooh, excellent! I shall try it out later on. Since this is a release candidate, are we to take it that the debugging code has been removed, and so it's a bit faster than the betas?

Posting now using Timberwolf RC1. Will comment futher later.

Update...

Cut and paste and Copy and paste work very well using the edit menu.

Scroll wheel seems to work now.

Using the vertical scroll bar works now. If I click on the vertical scroll bar and scroll down the window, the scroll bar is released now when I release the mouse button.

Caps Lock still does not work when I am typing comments, but that is not a show stopper.

If I use Timberwolf on my FFS2 partition ... too slow.
If I use Timberwolf on my SFS partition ..... too slow.
If I use Timberwolf on my JXFS partition .... very fast but can't save more bookmarks.

As with the previous releases, I have insufficient RAM to use Timberwolf to its fullest potential.

However, I am pleased with the improvements.

@All

Got GR's every time I started Timberwolf, so deleted entire original installation and replaced with new version, and all seems well. Seems more stable and a tiny bit faster than before but could use a major speed boost here on my SAM460!

I lost all my bookmarks but was able to import bookmarks from MUIOWB very easily

Been using it for two days now and its a lot better than before, its a lot faster and more stable on my 460.
Not having any of the problems some have been having, even imported my bookmarks from my windows firefox installation no problem.

Very happy with this version and looking forward to the final release.
Its getting harder to choose between MUIOWB and Timberwolf now although MUIOWB may just have the edge due to its speed.

Strange, doesn't seem much faster at all here! More stable but unable to get copy and paste to woork correctly, tied R-Amiga C and CTRL C combinations as well as menus, just doesn't work for me but last version did!

It's getting better but a long way from being my default browser, shall continue using MUIOWB as much faster and cut n paste works well too.Hopefully later releases will have speed improvements and minor fixes

@sicky

Do not forget : if you copied the new version of TimberWolf over an old one, you'll get strange beahviour. You have to delete your ol TW insallation and replace it with this latest.

Update...

My system specs ... MicroA1 with 750 GX CPU and 256 MB RAM

With only 256 MB of system RAM, I suspect that I simply do not have enough RAM to run RANDOM and Timberwolf RC1 at the same time.

With RANDOM mounted and Timberwolf running ...
Web page update is fast enough, but every other action (including menus) seems sluggish, almost as if I am using a slow CPU or running in low memory conditions. Lots of disk activity as well, which may be slowing my system down even further.
If I use Timberwolf on my FFS2 partition ... sluggish.
If I use Timberwolf on my SFS partition ... sluggish.
If I use Timberwolf on my JXFS partition ... all operations faster, don't know why.

Current configuration:
RANDOM in Storage (not mounted and not running)
Timberwolf on my JXFS partition ... all operations are fast.

With my current configuration, web page update is fast and all other operations are fast. The bookmarks I saved earlier are available at the bottom of the bookmark menu and they work.

This will suffice for now, because I do not have enough RAM to use Timberwolf to its fullest potential.

Thats odd as we seem to have more or less the same setup but copy and paste is working here! come to think off it I dont think it worked for me in the last beta.

As regards the speed, at first I thought it felt faster because it was more stable so just gave a feeling of being faster but the more I use it Im sure its a bit faster but it could just be me being

I think because of copy n paste working for me and importing the firefox bookmarks its made using it a lot better but its still MUIOWB for me at the moment.

@gtmooya

I'm having a lot of problems with TWRC1. I have followed the instructions and erased my font cache file and rebuilt it, as well as ensured that RANDOM: is mounted, but I always get ISI errors from the program after using it for about 3 to 7 minutes.
I have a ua1-c with 512M of RAM (about 376M is available free when I start TW), and I am running off a SFS 1.286 filesystem partition.

I have tried using both RGB16 and ARGB32 1280x720 screens for workbench - doesn't seem to make any difference.

Any ideas? I can post more details to the TW crash site and lots of crash logs.

Scott
