@Seaquest

Are you happy with 800x600? I expect your monitor can do a good deal better.

@Seaquest

The .info is supposed to contain all your own monitor performance details and the screenmodes that you might like to choose. Any that are defined, but beyond the monitors capabilities should be excluded from the screenmode list.

Perhaps you did not do a completely new install and just upgraded. That might leave old files that are messing with the way UD4 is supposed to work.

@Seaquest

You can specify via tooltypes your screenmode and refresh.

My Radeon's tooltypes:
BOARDTYPE=Radeon
CMPLENGTH=6
SETTINGSFILE=SYS:Devs/Picasso96Settings
(BORDERBLANK=Yes)
IGNOREMASK=Yes
INTERRUPT=Yes
VSYNCMIN=60
VSYNCMAX=75
HSYNCMIN=31500
HSYNCMAX=8000
MODE=320x240@75
MODE=640x480@75
MODE=800x600@75
MODE=1024x768@75
MODE=1280x1024@75

@royleith

What version is the Update 4 Radeon driver?
I've just checked mine, and its 40.2 (13/03/2005). Also, it doesn't contain the MODE tooltypes.

Have a look on the update#4 CD, nder installation-Support/p96/radeon.

All the radeon drivers are in there, just have a look at their tooltypes.

@amipal

I think all the OS4 releases are 51.0+, so you have an old driver there.

The directory is "Installation-Support/Picasso96" and the files in that directory
on the CD are all .info files, not drivers.
Please give me the exact path on CD to the radeon driver you say is version 51.0+.

Depending on type of monitor you might want to change those screen mode settings.
If you have a TFT then they're ok. On a CRT you might want to up the vertical freqency
to 85Hz and change the 1280x1024 to 1280x960 to get a aspect correct picture.

Same here. That's why I want to put the rumor of version 51.0+ to rest.

@Swoop

ok. You were referring to "SYS:kickstart/ATIRadeon.chp" version 51.13.
Sorry for the confusion. We were referring to the file "radeon" in SYS:devs/monitors,
which is version 40.2.(and its corresponding tooltypes in the .info file for same).

Please tell me this is a "typo".
You show "maximum" less than "minimum" here.

@thread

Interesting to note that you can look at all the tooltypes in the .info files
in the directory "Installation-Support/Picasso96". (on install CD)
The name of each file directly corresponds to the value in the tooltype
for "HSYNCMAX".
One notable exception is the file "Radeon.31" which has shows "HSYNCMAX=31500".
It does count in "halves" because the file "Radeon.35.5" shows "HSYNCMAX=35500".
