Is perhaps the right moment to bury the war tomahawk, and sit smoking the peace Pipe: handler

(yes the Pipe: handler is a very bad word joke..., forgive me!)

Perhaps into AmigaOS and MorphOS we lack of some important features and some important programs which could help us to live, and attract new users.

Such programs like good modern browsers and Office programs.

Could we join the efforts of best programmers of both camps and release in reasonable amount of time the programs we need?

Perhaps I think of only 2 or perhaps a few more programs with joined Bounty. No much effort for us users.

Do you think it is possible?

Well, to be honest, KHTML MOS browser, Sputink by marcik is on the good way to be finished soon, and we could see in a brief amount of time first betas.

Its project of porting KHTML thru Webcore is good enough to be adapted in future to AmigaOS 4.0.
(at least an Amiga programmer, give to me some hints, that the portability cuold be high.)

And this only ONE example.

There could be dozens of programs that a joined effort could realize for us into Amiga-like OSes world, and fill the gap with other Operating Systems out of there.

Why don't you user suggest at least 5 programs of major interest in both camps that you judge that could had been ported into both systems in a brief time with little effort from the programmers?

How to create a joined site in which to store these programs, their CVS and the download pages for the users?

I think... It is only a proposal, DON'T FLAME.

And it could bring us very important things if only we could co-operate.

@Raffaele

Sounds like good sense - It'll never take off!

@RockDemon

I would have to agree... unfortunately.

@Raffaele

Yes, good Idea. You talking about single programmers and coders. They are not in war like the companies that all we know.

@TrebleSix

There have been such noble causes (as Rafaelle's) in the past, but nothing concrete ever came out of them.

Let's forget about this Red-Blue BS, the problem I think probably stems from the fact that dev's:

a) Can't bothered porting or pooling resources for the other platform (although there are some major exceptions as jahc for example has displayed)

b) Having difficulty obtaining documentation... or the other OS itself.

But then again, I don't even have OS4 any longer, so I probably don't have the right to say anything.

someone can help us to improve Bourriquet for example.. there is a project on Sourceforge and is compiled (and written) for MorphOS and AmigaOS.

GTK-MUI is another example.

Luckily there are many people that doesn't flame all things always..

@Raffaele

I would like to point out that to the best of my knowledge we still don't have any MorphOS developer on the adtools project here.

It is an honour and it is very promising, that you joined our discussion.

To pass "the ball", i.e. "the argument" into MorphOS camp, I started this thread into Morphzone to bounce entire thread:

Click Me

Now I hope that someone of MorphOS coders could read of it and contact you in order to join the ADTools project.

Next time I will post it also in MorphOS Developer Connection (I cant do it right now, because I am not registered there).

I hope this whole discussion could bring its fruits, because we all soon took knowledge of a common problem...

...And more, the fact we just focused quickly on a first important project to partnership, it is a very promisitng platform on which to start further co-operations.

[Edit: just shortened your link]

Feelin is an excellent example of an extremely cool piece of software that runs on all 4 Amiga-like OSes.

Probably the coolest piece of software in development for the Amiga today, too.

@Raffaele

Well, this is already happening and needs to be encouraged!

I think mozilla is agnostic between morphos and OS4.

To be honest - a bounty system for application software ports is needed across all 4 AmigaOSs... IMHO.

Didn't You know that every gcc past 2.x is broken

sorry, I just had to make this comment... it is the general answer that people get, in the MorphOS world, when they ask for a C-compiler that is not obsolete... at least it was like that, the last time I had a look at morphzone (don't know if they have past the millenium shift since last time...)

I hope that he will be able to get the AmiZilla bounty, when it gets ported to all the platforms...

Please forgive my asking, but you don't seem to have any files in there either How is the project coming along?

@SoundSquare

*shrugs*

I don't care what Henes says about the topic. Matter of fact is there is (correct me if I'm wrong) no gcc 4.x for MorphOS, and we, the adtools team, offer our source code and the project itself on sf.net if some MorphOS programmer (not necessearily one of the MorphOS team) wants to join.

So, if someone from MorphOS wants to join, *points upwards* there's the link

@hnl_dk

The latest GCC for MorphOS is always available at http://gcc.gnu.org/. You can choose from various versions. Seems GCC 4.2.0 is available soon

The GCC team is working to us so to speak

I don't think we ever released files there. The project is continously updated, basically we're up to the latest gcc available.

But yeah, I guess we should make a release or three from time to time :)
