I've been amazed at how great OS4 Final runs 68k classic Amiga programs that properly use the system. The OS4 developers deserve a round of applause! I have randomly picked a few programs from AMINET to test and below are some of my results. I've tried adding some of these to the Intuitionbase database but it does not seem to be maintained as of late.
Please note - I am an ardent supporter of purchasing NEW OS4 updated software releases, and have bought almost everything that has been rewritten to support OS4 myself. I strongly encourage you to support those programmers working on OS4 specific titles. But its nice to know we have so much to fall back on!


Working Classic 68k Programs under OS4 Final on an AmigaOne:

OS4 configration - startup sequence has C:SetPatch ADDCHIPRAM 2 QUIET
JIT enabled for all programs tested in this list.
Typically I increase the stack size in the program before running to something like 64000. (not sure if this is necessary, but many default to only 4096...so I thought I'd up it a bit).

Note - full means no DSI errors, no GR, no lockups.

That is good news. It did work OK before but you had to mess around with Screens Prefs or the colours were funny. BTW. You will still get some GRs using the 68k version - don't search for a star by its name !

Wait until you see the OS4 native version, coming soon in Demo form to an OS4 Depot near you. Until then you will have to make do with some screenshots at http://www.eavesweb.plus.com/testpage/

Great! If you haven't already done so, please add these to Intuitionbase.com's database so others can benefit from your findings. From the main menu at Intuitionbase, select AmigaOS Menu>Avaialable Software>Classic Software and submit your entries.

There was some problem with Intuitionbase recently. I think it is back to normal as the entries I had submitted did eventually appear.

I think it just takes a while.
