| Hi guys
The sputnik bounty has reached 2,441.80 EUR, so we're now only around 600 EUR away from completing the bounty! We have received donations from almost 100 different people and many have made multiple donations (thanks)! That said I hope there's still people willing to make a donation in the hope we could get a better browser in the future.
If you haven't donated yet or just want to read more about the project before deciding if you want to make a donation click here: www.amigabounty.net

Bit lacking in content that, no mention of how fast it is for a start off.
Stil it's good to see that the Bounty is almost there, of course I'd love to see it on OS4. Wonder what the bounty would be for a 68k version? _________________ Rage quited 29th May 2011 |

Added a second donation. Not a big amount but a donation nevertheless.

If his 603e is clocked at 600 Mhz then that might be true. |

This has been tickling me for some time.
Why doesn't someone just ask him for the sourcecode and make the relevent changes to make it compile on OS4?
It is LGPL afterall.
http://opensource.nokia.com/projects/S60browser/
In fact there seems to be no need to ask him, his sources are here Last edited by nicholas on 30-Mar-2007 at 10:46 PM.

The KHTML engine is open source but not the MUI wrapper and Sputnik. That is what we are paying for. |

| I am not sure if Sputnik solves all our browser problems. There is JaveScript incompatibility issues too. How powerful is JavaScript of Sputnik?

| @firbodi Well Safari on the MAC has some Javascript issues so I guess it will be the same on Sputnik (IMHO overall Safari works much better than any Amiga browser though!).
Good thing is that Nokia are working on the S60browser (which Sputnik is based on) and the improvements made by them will be integrated with Sputnik.

So who are you calling a liar there, Kicko or Voodoo?
Also, I can vouch that Safari has problems with Javascripts, it's making eBay so slow there's almost no difference between broadband and dial-up, It'll work ok on IBrowse, but I usally just turn Java script off to give some attemp at speed.
I blame eBay for all this to be honest.

Noone. "Liar" is a strong word anyway and the impression of speed is always subjective. I just don't know how anyone can call it "fast" on a BPPC, since even on Peg1/2 many have reported it as slow, even after installing apooler. Most websites take *much* longer to be rendered in comparison to e.g. AWeb, but the good thing his, most of them are rendered *correctly* and don't show up like 20 pages of garbled text (i.e. ignoring CSS). |

| Voodoo is a good guy. Hes not a "liar" (litterally) Hes only a bit over enthusiastic sometimes.
Sputnik is in a early beta stage with a lot of things left.
Hence Sputnik on a PowerUP system, can't be defined "fast" ... at least for now.

| Keep in mind that he has also stated he will not work on another release before he has a stable and working version for morphOS that he is pleased with.
The version we now have is good. Its not the fastest brwser, but it is the most accurate to date. The 2nd beta is much more stable and compatable then the last one by far. i use it every day now as my browser of choice on the Peg when I am under MorphOS. The only down side is it lacks a lot of features, but they are comming and its expected at such an early stage.

It's true, but simplier pages are working even better and faster than Aweb, for example AmigaWorld.net. |

| @Acill_MOS
As you say it is work in progress and from a non-developer POW it is coming along nicely it seems.
Hopefully this bounty (and the MOS bounty, could someone update that??) will give Marcin some further incentives to work hard on the browser development. I think it is nice to see an Amiga developer who can actually make a little $$ on his work, quite contrary to what many says is possible in this Amiga market.
Just updated amigabounty.net. Thanks to some generous donations we made some good progress today. Those that haven't already donated should hurry up and do so before it's to late
who will be number 100 to make a donation*? (*not incl. multiple donations)
Update:Now reached 2815 EUR !!! Last edited by Troels on 02-Apr-2007 at 09:46 AM.
