| While we wait for the Allegro bounty to be completed, let's brainstorm for new realistic projects that we could add to amigabounty.net, waddya say guys?
Here's the suggestions so far:
Python+Pygame - A programming language and it's SDL binding. Exaples of Pygame games.
Ruby+RubyGame - A programming language and it's SDL binding. ClanLib - a game making library. Some cool games use it. It uses SDL and some other libs. Example ClanLib games.
ParaGUI - a GUI toolkit used in some cool games. Freelords among other. It's also used in a couple of apps. Examples of games using paragui. There are more though. Especially apps.
An Open Source FMOD replacement - Make an alternative library that is compatible with FMOD. That would be great to have. Lots and lots of stuff depend of FMOD that is closed source and not available on Amigas.
An up to date Reaction and/or MUI based backend for Cairo so we can draw easily using Anti-Aliasing and other nice stuff without putting in any effort oursleves
CMake a cross-platform, open-source make system. CMake is used to control the software compilation process using simple platform and compiler independent configuration files.
Scons SCons is an Open Source software construction tool-that is, a next-generation build tool. Think of SCons as an improved, cross-platform substitute for the classic Make utility with integrated functionality similar to autoconf/automake and compiler caches such as ccache. In short, SCons is an easier, more reliable and faster way to build software.
A small fpga/cpld board (that costs no more than $10) with a usb connector on one end and a floppy connector on the other end that is designed to read/write amiga format floppies.
MySQL server
Cairo (but integrated with Reaction/MUI). It will be required for Mozilla 3.x
WxWidgets
WOS/PUP (PPC) Emulation for UAE.
Anyone else have any ideas? Could be anything! Last edited by spotUP on 24-Jun-2007 at 12:01 AM. Last edited by spotUP on 10-Jun-2007 at 06:12 PM. Last edited by spotUP on 10-Jun-2007 at 06:10 PM. There's always Anti-Grain Geometry! ssolie did a fantastic job with this toolkit - just check out WWII on OS4depot for an example of AGG's capabilities. _________________ After a decade away from the scene, I am back! |

I will take a look when I return from Corfu next week (it's simply to hot here in Denmark atm.)
Keep the suggestions coming and I hope to hear more about progress on Allegro when I come home :) _________________

| I know. It'a a good piece of work.
However, it's still a pita to incorporate AAG easily into work.
And, another project I'm working on has Cairo as a requirement, so it'd be easier if I could re-use some code. _________________ Happiness is mandatory. MindSpace: MindMaps and UML diagrams for OS4

| How about a hardware bounty?
A small fpga/cpld board (that costs no more than $10) with a usb connector on one end and a floppy connector on the other end that is designed to read/write amiga format floppies.

MySQL server? It should be damn easy to do considering the fact that it already exists for MOS _________________ Philippe 'Elwood' Ferrucci Sam460 1.10 Ghz AmigaOS 4 betatester Amiga Translator Organisation |

Really? Where's the MOS source? I've asked about MySQL several times, but no-one's been willing to work on a port. I'm too busy with other stuff, but then, I'm not very good at porting software.

| @spotUP A python port would be duplicating some effort... so for that just wait and see. _________________ Playstation Network ID: xeron6 |

well, that ruby port ain't complete.
"This version of Ruby only contains the command miniruby at the moment. That means ruby does not support some extensions but perfectly runs the internal tests. The fork feature is missing in the process class (methods setrlimit and getrlimit too)."
so i'd say it still qualifies. and rubygame ain't ported.

Yes, I read about Hans-Joerg's Python port, but as with Ruby, PyGame would be nice to have as well.

Are you thinking about this?
Ask BigGun, I think he's working on a game construction kit right now.Last edited by Darth_X on 08-Jun-2007 at 06:38 AM.

Agar is the SDL GUI I'm working on right now. It's written in C and, unlike ParaGUI, it trims out some of the extra unnecessary features like skins and so on and adds some game-building tools in its place.
I'm planning on using it in Mattathias Basic (if it works out) and then we'll see what else. |

in everyday real life the Amiga would become more viable if I could open my M$ assignments from uni. sad but true.

Abiword running under Cygnix.
If you just want toopen/read .doc files, then use AntiWord.
