A modern browser for AOS4 is closer than we think

We could have a modern browser based on the same engine as Sputnik/Safari/Etc ported to AmigaOS relatively easy.
Sand Labs have written an open source browser called OWB, completely SDL driven, their goal is a good portable browser for embeded devices and such.

Porting it to AmigaOS should hopefully be easy.

HOWEVER...

The build system used is CMAKE and we don't have this for OS4.

Porting OWB without CMAKE is possible, but it will be a real pain as there are many compiler options to consider and there A LOT of C files in the source archive.
Besides having CMAKE ported over will benefit other projects as well.

So, the reason for making this post is to make people aware of a modern browser that is within reach,
and to beg for someone to port CMAKE. I have looked at the CMAKE sources too, and I don't think it's that hard for someone with a little more coding skills to port it.
The configure script is a bit wacky under OS4, but with some manual makefile tweaking it compiles.

Anyone interested?

@spotUP

Where is the location of the source files?
(src.rpm, tgz, tar.gz)

Is this OWB compatible with Linux for PowerPC on AmigaOne?

Does this program need WebKit or Qt from Trolltech?

There are also some source files for download at:

http://www.sand-labs.org/owb/downloads

This has the potential to be very exciting...

Other requirement: gperf (from GNU) and SDL_GFX.

This browser can run without X-Windows on SDL + svgalib + Linux, similar to Links 2.0 (Graphic).

Unfortunately there is no menu, help or keyboard command.

For the graphically inclined, here is a screenshot of the browser in question:

@Petah

So where is the print button? Bookmarks? History? Even current Amiga browsers can manage these so how is this modern or a step forward from what the Amiga already has?

In that it can actually display websites as opposed to being a nice GUI polishing a turd?

Has anyone had a look at porting this?

If I had the skills (and time ) I'd try myself, but sadly I don't.
