| OK, think SAM 440 EP is the most up-to-date miggy available, but not sure what the most recent, finished version of AmigaOS is; think it's "four point something."
Well, I've been told AnimatED runs really well on OS4, either in the embedded emulation or under UAE, and that the introductory talking dog animation in Hi-Res laced can be played without a hitch.
Now as Gav here experienced, anim files imported to AnimatED by paint apps that don't add looping frames to the files, can cause massive graphical glitches. Think Personal paint is the only culprit here.
The author of Perfect Paint, Georges H, said he managed to import an IFF ANIM-5 or 7 file into AnimatED without trouble, in 256 colours. Although Perfect Paint is graphics-card only, it can still create AGA-compatible images and files.
So I'm asking, does Perfect Paint run on a SAM 440 EP with OS4? If so, can you create IFF ANIM-5 and ANIM-7 files with it?
If that is possible, I'm asking someone nicely, i.e. "please," to create a 256-colour IFF ANIM-5 or ANIM-7 file with Perfect Paint under OS4 on a SAM 440 EP, and then import that anim file into AnimatED, also under OS4 on a SAM.
Any volunteers? pleeeeeeeease? _________________ SEX SUX

Thx for the link. The page is in German, but I get the general idea- Perfect paint does indeed run on OS4, MorphOS and such.
So, how about my request? Someone? PLEEEEEEEEEASE? _________________ SEX SUX

Perfectpaint work great on aos4
I think you will see the author here soon but if you are verry impatient, you could post your questions about perfectpaint (even in english) on the forum of amiforce.de (as a guest, it's possible on the amiforce.de forum).
BTW, I can't test your request, No aos4.x until now...

OK, thx for testing OS4 Perfect Paint.
Now, please use it to create a 256-colour IFF animation, either ANIM-5 or ANIM-7.
Then, see if you can run AnimatED under OS4.1, and see if you can import the IFF anim into it.
AnimatED can be downloaded freeware from Aminet, here. _________________ SEX SUX

I am confused. I thought PPaint stood for Perfect Paint? So what does the Cloanto PPaint mean? Last edited by Hypex on 06-Jan-2009 at 02:00 PM.

the short for PerfectPaint is PfPaint and IIRC Cloanto's PPaint refers to Personal Paint. _________________ AOS 4.1 : I dream it, Hyperion did it ! Now dreaming AOS 4.2... Thank you to all devs involved for this great job ! |

Oh that's right! Still when re-reading this thread it's still confusing as yours is the first mention of PfPaint! |

Yep, I tried Personal paint too.
It's excellent, but there are several things sorely missing in it, which I'm used to in the ancient Deluxe Paint 5. PPaint doesn't add looping frames to its IFF ANIM files, which causes graphical glitches when I import them into AnimatED._________________ SEX SUX

save a Anim as ANM5 or 7 dont work with the last Version of PfP. Only 24bit Anim work. I must look at the Problem, but i very bussy this Days...
In the Meanwhile: i testet AnimatED, it starts with GR under OS4.1 on my XE (not SAM)...
I dont know this Programm, and i dont know "what" it should do "when it do" was he did...
I test the last Version of this Program. I start the Program an a Screen apears with corrupted Colors, and when i start the "Player" instead AnimatED and load the Testanim (that is includet in the Package) i saw a Bear that does nothing....
hope this help a little bit in your journey to get answers for your questions |

Well, it was written in Blitz, as was Perfect Paint.

That would be the talking dog, but if it's not talking and you don't hear music, it's not working. Quote:

Well, they're not the answers I was hoping for, but yes, that is still helpful.

Also you should know that there are several settings that one can try in AOS 4.x that might solve the issue. |

Yes, but I was hoping someone who already had a SAM with OS4.1, could try those for me. Blackbird just said he's very busy, so someone with a little more free time?
I will definitely be buying a SAM 440 EP with OS4.1, I just can't for a few months. Looks like I may have to keep my A1200 for animation though.
Based on the feedback for my movie, MCoC, I think we're mostly agreed there's nothing wrong with my cartoons visually, but the speech quality is abysmal, and I should try and get professional music.
Well, maybe some NLE software will arrive for OS4, that will allow me to re-dub the speech and music for my cartoons, once I've added the timing and sound effects with my A1200.
Well, that is if I ever get my A1200 mobo with Indivision and Blizzard '060/50 back from Amigakit! _________________ SEX SUX

A few days ago I thought you said you were getting a modern Windows PC?

Hmmm, I also felt that scenes were slow and (perhaps because of that) overly long. IMHO you should try pacing (and action/humour) more like Wallace & Gromit, or even faster than that..._________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. ok, and where is the Code to look in whats going wrong, you have it ?
Ps: i read the Guide in the meanwhile and i found that AnimatED use the Customchips for playing the Sounds and use only 8bit for Animations, further development is over etc...
i think AnimatED is outdatet to use it on OS4.x on the new Machines....
well, its Time to use another Software for Anims to use 24bit Anims and Ahi...Last edited by Blackbird on 10-Jan-2009 at 10:58 AM. Last edited by Blackbird on 10-Jan-2009 at 10:58 AM.

Got that AS WELL, a laptop.
It's a long time since I had to save for months on end to afford computer stuff!

Yes, but that's not a capability issue. I could indeed do more action, with only Deluxe Paint 5 and AnimatED._________________ SEX SUX

The author, Marco Vigelius may still have it, but sadly I can't get hold of him.

Yes, yes, but sadly no such software seems to exist, nor be in the pipeline.
I'm a little disappointed that I seem to be one of very few Amigans who would like to make movies and cartoons with their SAM and OS4.1, but sadly that's it.
All I want is an app that can add sound and timing events to animation files, that runs natively on OS4, but there seems to be no demand for such an app._________________ SEX SUX

Well, if I had the manual handy I could look it up for you, but that's currently packed as we're in temporary accomodation. As such, it's impractical for me to buy a SAm just now. _________________ SEX SUX
