Hallo everyone,

Even if we know the speed of the dev. for new version of OWB from Joerg, this version could surprise us...

Yes, yes, true... simple fact (personaly tested) : new item is added to menu ("Save as...) and it save the actual page (we have to give name) but, ha ha, and here comes an interesting thing : what happened before when we wanted to download, for example, an archive from os4depot.net ? a page/tab was opened with full of special characters... now, if you do the same, it opens the same windows BUT, when we click on "Save as..." in the menu OWB recognize the archive and as a name it gives automatically the name of the archive !!! Yes, yes... it's an indirect download, but works fine.

Haven't tested with big archive, so if you want try it, but with normal size : NO PROBLEM !!! NO PROBLEM !!!

Thanks for this release Joerg !!!

Nic

Very fine and welcome work indeed!

I didn't have time to download this morning, work calls, but when I get back I'll certainly give it a whirl!

thanks Joerg!

And I have the impression that it is faster. At least it feels that way.

Indeed, most impressive! But what a giant!

Try ClipDown from OS4Depot. It works on large files and gives the options of downloading files, the plain html of pages, html with graphics and html pages with graphics and linked pages. (Shameless plug)

OWB gets better and better every time.
The new upload feature was nice with the last version, only problem was that the upload requester's path and file were not stored, like on the old OWB versions with upload abilities. This is a big problem, especially when uploading many files, I had to select every file path and name again and again. At the end I copied the needed to upload files in the OWB drawer to solve part of the issue. It is much easier on that old OWB version, but it is also much more unstable.
The new download ability is also cool. Will use it more and more in the future.

@drHirudo

I hate to rain on everyones downloading parades, but I tried saving ircstats.lha from OS4Depot onto my A1 as a test, and when I tried opening it with UnArc, it first complained of some corrupt data, and said it couldn't extract the last file in the archive.

If anyone has any solutions, brilliant, but Its not working properly for me yet

*** EDIT ***

My mistake - downloaded stuff (including ircstats.lha) behaves completely fine now.

can the shortcuts for the "search gadged" and the "open url gadged" be changed to " LAmiga-f " and " LAmiga-l " (left amiga - lowercase L) respectively?

Can you PM, emal, or start a thread deiscribing the problem in detail.
Email is in the ClipDown.guide file.

What system are you using?
Do you have wget installed?
What link are you trying to download?
What download mode are you using?
Are you using Miami as the TCPIP stack by any chance?

I haven't see this problem so I'd apprecitate any help you can supply me
to try and re-produce the problem and I'll see if I can fix it.

Thanks!

@unimon

Do you need to do a complete install and remove the older OWB that came with the Sam440eps?
Thanks in advance for your help.

simply run AmiUpdate (you find it in AS4 Depot) and it will be automagically updated and keeping your tooltypes and prefs

Why not just make an assign to where your files are, then you can just switch to the Volumes page of the file requester each time, double-click your assign and directly select your next file.

Best regards,

Niels

Now this sounds silly, but I'll ask anyway: how come the MorphOS OWB version seems pretty more advanced/complete than the OS4 version, while the latter is out (and being in constant development) for way more time? No trolling intended, but I'm quite baffled tbh.
