I know and i've tried all themes with same GR results. But I think that it is good when we have a functional version and a less functional. I mean, we know that since the begin of developping OWB we encountered always problem with some versions but we always have a good, but a less enhanced, version and a new with which we can swap.
Of course, it's not the same like if we have a fully functional version, but we have to be happy with continuing developpement :)

I have been using OWB 3.11 for about an hour and a half. Seems to be very stable so far. Typing posts at amiga.org, amigaworld.net and amigans.net is working just fine. Typing speed is just like OWB 3.7.
So far I got GR on two websites. One is the site Tomas reported in an earlier thread. Both sites work fine on OWB 3.7.
The site Tomas reported is http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/01271.html If I go there directly, I get a GR. However, if I start at the top and work my way down through the website I reach a point where I can pick a station. Does not matter which station I choose, I get a GR. Not sure what is different about the final page, may be different fonts or advertizing.
The other site where I get a GR is a very large collection of photos. I think I'm simply running out of RAM.
MicroA1 with 750 GX and 256 MB RAM running AmigaOS 4.1 and OWB 3.11.

| Hi,
nice Artwork by Mason, but for my taste/WB-resolution, the new icons are too big...

| @thread It looks like this version (3.11, SVN revision 915) works great !

It looks like we might have a new icon set some day. I can understand those icons might be big for smaller resolutions. But old/current icons are a little bit small for my 1680x1050 IMO.

AmiUpdate doesn't seem to work correctly since no update is available for OWB.

| I find the latest version (3.11) much faster than previous versions. And at last I seem to stay logged into aw.net when I come back.
I'll see what the stability is like after a few posts like this one. With previous versions, I could only type a limited amount before OWB would either crash or sometimes just freeze the whole system. So far, this version looks better.

| This version seems alot more responsive and it does no longer lag when inputting text. I do sadly get those same grim reapers as i got with the previous versions. |

What memory leak?
All program *appear* to leak memory because the memory that is freed is often cached by OS4 for faster reuse instead of released back to the exec memory pool.
If you start OWB then quit it, then start it again and quit, will it "leak" the same amount both times?_________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft. |

This has been discussed in other threads, but the amount of free memory keeps on dropping till the OS is completely unuseable. It drops to about 20 Mb's here
It seems that some GIF anims are the culprit.

| This is a huge improvement over 3.10 as regards stability and speed. Great work, Joerg!

Just to satisfy my curiosity, I installed AmigaOS 4.0 onto a spare hard drive using my last backup of my AmigaOS4.0 July 2007 Update system from September 2008 and BackUp v1.63 by Deniil715. I also downloaded and installed OWB 3.11 and expat.library.
All my regular websites were just fine. However, I got the grim reaper on both websites mentioned in my earlier post.

I know this is a bit off topic, but I would like to thank you for your BackUp program.
This afternoon, I decided to install AmigaOS4.0 on a spare hard drive to see if OWB 3.11 would work better under OS4.0.
First I booted up with my AmigaOS 4.0 Final installation CD, but the system would not recognise the hard drive, don't know why. It said the RDB was toast.
Then I booted up with my last bootable backup CD-R of my AmigaOS 4.0 system from September 2008. It recognised the hard drive and I was able to install the SLB, create a partiion and do a quick format.
Then I used BackUp v1.63 to "backup" from the same CD to the hard drive. 13496 files, 428458109 bytes, no errors.
Not sure if it was ever intended to use it this way but it worked perfectly.

I've been having problems with www.wamu.com -- have been trying OWB through the various versions (upto even 3.11)...now I think I know why there are issues. It looks like it is a low memory issue. I'm running OS4 on a phase5 PPC card on a 4oooT. When I get close to like 1MB or slightly lower (800K) for other memory, I start running into issues...the menus don't display because there isn't enough memory. Sometimes can't even close OWB. This is the only app that I'm running (besides some commodities). So I don't see any way around this.
Will we see the 4.1 virtual memory (swap) come to classic? My memory is max-ed out. 128MB on PPC card, 16MB on motherboard (but not seen by OS4). Any way to make OWB more memory efficient? |
