| As I'm a newbie to Blender, can anyone recommend a nice complicated drawing that we can all render using Andy's Amiga OS4.1 Blender v2.48a and compare rendering times here?
Latest Blender v2.48 Update 6 from OS4Depot
Thanks again for the great port Andy
UPDATE:
let's use this test render recommended by Tomas:

Don't really care about winning or losing as I just like to see the results on different systems _________________ ____________________________ c64-2sids, A1000, A1200T-060@50(finally working!),A4000-CSMKIII ! My Master Miggies- Amiga 1000 & AmigaOne X1000 ! mancave-ramblings X1000 I BELIEVE |

Funny to see how Amiga compares to PC in rendering (I expect the PC's to be a lot faster) _________________ Maintainer of www.bigbookofamigahardware.com |

If you you really must benchmark, there are a couple of built in bench marks that test the interface.
Goto the Help Menu (top of screen towards middle) then select system / benchmark.
They will be screen mode sensitive.
As to rendering benchmarks, it's purely down to CPU, so take you pic of the many out there. (or jusr render the default cube...)

I get 20:59.69 for that file on my SAM-Flex 766MHz machine.
That seems suspiciously slow to me, especeially compared with even the slowest PC on the sites lists... I might try a comparison on my two linux boxes later. Last edited by broadblues on 25-Jan-2010 at 05:39 PM.

Version 2.49 seems to be slower than 2.43. Strange...
00:17:11.33 Intel® Pentium® 3 600MHz (V2.44)
Your result is not much slower. |

My Peg2 (OS4.1 update 1) took 09:46.72
@Hyperion/A-EON
Anybody willing to leak how fast the X1000 renders this scene? Last edited by TheKorn on 25-Jan-2010 at 09:03 PM. Last edited by TheKorn on 25-Jan-2010 at 06:09 PM.

Ah! reread the results on the site again, and realised the way I'd misstyped my own result, caused me misread the slowest result on there, I read 5 hours as 5 minutes! I feel a bit better now
Still I wonder if it's worth a rebuild with -O3 rather than -O2

Micro GX @800MHz, 512Mb, update 1
11:02.41
Wondering if the 1Mb L2 cache in the GX speeds it up a bit.
@Broadblues
Your render time should be close to mine, made sure nothing else is running. Last edited by sundown on 26-Jan-2010 at 09:56 PM. Last edited by sundown on 25-Jan-2010 at 06:39 PM.

00:25.34 FTW :)
(Q9450 @ 2.66GHz, X48 chipset, 4GB DDR3 - rated at 7-7-7/1600MHz but running at 6-6-6/1333MHz)
Probably could get a faster version if I compile from source, this is the "vanilla" linux version. Last edited by Karlos on 25-Jan-2010 at 08:23 PM. Last edited by Karlos on 25-Jan-2010 at 08:15 PM.
