Just the last couple of days I've found that OWB hangs when attempting to browse facebook.

It also affects like buttons etc on other site.

It seems that it might be related to a cookie as when I deleted my cooki database it started working very briefly, long enough to log bavk in then look at two pages before it hung again. I suppose facebook must have replaced the "dodgy cookie"

Any one else seen this? Got a solution?

It's a pain to swith my noisy linux box on just to visit facebook!

@broadblues

Yep, you'll have to delete cookiCollecion.db in OWB's drawer and it'll be ok.

Or write protect it, thats what I did. Also have urlhistory.xml write protected & WebpageIcons.db read & write protected. urlhistory.xml tends to grow over time & slow owb startup.

@broadblues

You can also go into OWB's tooltypes and change the location to RAM:

COOKIEDB=RAM:cookieCollection.db

That way the cookiecollection file will be automatically erased every time you turn off your Amiga.

Placing the cookie db in ram seems to be working at the moment. Facebook is loading again at anyrate.

Scratch that, after a few visits it hangs again. I'll try the write protect approach ...

@broadblues

Nope, write protect appraoch doesn't work either, whichever approach I used to restrict the saving of cookies, facebook takes out OWB afetr one or two page loads, then I have to restart OWB to view any other facebook page. (this include pages with like buttons on, which although viewable never competely load due ot the like button content stivking) Guess I'll have to wait for Timberwolf / OWB-MUI

Now it seems linkedin has a similar problem, I wonder what has changed, it certainly seems cookie related but write protecting 'cookies jars' doesnot help, must be s per session cookie causng the problem.

I've noticed a similar issue with MUI-OWB. I clicked open some comments and the text layout was screwed up; all on one line way out through the border. I tried to mark the text and MUI-OWB gave me an ISI deep inside the WebCore. Must be a bug on facebook that triggered another bug in webkit.

@Deniil715

Doesn't seem to happen in any recent webkit/owb, at least.

The AMIGA platform is so desperate for a decent browser, without one the platform just will not move forward as more and more is being done over the web...

Timberwolf can't come soon enough...

Q!

@Deniil715

I get no corruption or layout quirks in my case, after a certain point facebook simple stops loading, once that occurs, no facebook content, beit a facebook page or a like button on another site, will load.

Deleting my cookie db starts it working again, but it usually only works for 2 or 3 pages.

It could be a webkit bug, might also be a curl bug as IIRC OWB uses curl to handle all the http stuff.

What happens if you run a script somthing like this:

;AmigaDOS Script
.bra {
.ket }
LAB loop
WaitNotify ram:CookieCollection.db
delete ram:CookieCollection.db
SKIP loop BACK

@broadblues

I have the same problems since beginning with any Reaction OWB release, maybe somethings related to LibCURL, maybe not, i asked Joerg many time but he doesn't have any "real" Facebook account so we didn't be able to test it deeply

Could have been a fluke as well. Prior memory corruption. Usually get lockups or fail to kill the screenblanker when I come back to the computer after running MUI-OWB. It really isn't quite bugfree yet (the OS4 version).

@sundown

Do you know of any "How to" for OWB?

Its not clear to me if I am expected to overwrite my current OWB directory or am obliged to create a new directory.

Do you know of any OWB-centric presence that consolidates info about troubles and work-arounds?

I'm getting lost in the Reaction|MUI|multi_Amiga_platform information.

If you know of a FAQ for OWB, lemme know.

The www.strohmayer.org/OWB is quiet on nearly all of the above.

I don't use facebook, so I can't comment on any issues there.

Are you using OWB 3.31 or OWB 3.32 ?
