I downloaded AMC today and tried it out for the first time. It's a little slow on my uA1 and it seems to have a couple of bugs but it's very promising and I encourage everyone to register to show your support. I plan to do so soon!

The intresting thing I discovered is that the version of MPlayer that comes with it (at least the OS4 version) doesn't have the problem of not returning memory after streaming video or audio. This makes it the version of choice to use with ClipDown. You'll no longer be limited to viewing a few videos or listening to a few songs before running out of memory. That alone is worth the registration fee for AMC. Nice!

Which theme do you use? The one with the clouds, or the "flat" shown in this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU_GhtNyYG8

"Flat" looks better and is faster. Also please check if AMC runs with the slowcpu flag..

AMC 1.23 is again faster, so stay tuned.

I was using the default theme and it looks like the SLOWCPU tooltype is set to 1 by default.
I'll try with the other theme. Looking forward to the new version. Thanks for the tips!

@sicky

some MPlayer versions, requires the its own "conf" directory/files as well.

Is not enough to replace the MPlayer executable only.

Maybe the archive was corrupt.
Might be worth downloading again.
I have been using that version of mplayer for sometime without any issues.

Downloaded LHA Archive again same thing happens.

There is a drawaer 'Altivec' that contains MPlayer

There is a GenericPPC drawer that is empty!

Other version of MPlayer is in the top level so assumed that is GenericPPC version!

When I double click I get requester open, so pick a movie then get GrimReaper!

Downloaded it again myself to test.
Used the version of Mplayer that you did, no problems here.
I assume you have tried more than one movie?

@sicky

The problem with MPlayer on the Sam460 is that the drivers for the Radeon HD cards which are commonly used on the 460 AFAIK still lack support for overlay. If you have a version of MPlayer which works on your machine then:
- the version of MPlayer you are using is a custom compile (if I'm not mistaken made by MickJT) which doesn't use overlay, or
- you are using a driver which supports overlay for your graphic card, in that case the problem with the AMC's MPlayer is a different one and will have to be investigated.

I have SAM460 now fitted with a Radeon HD 4650 GFX card.

The MPlayer I have installed has changed the way it works somehow, when I had on-board graphics card it worked fine, but when I fitted Radeon HD it would not display movies unless I set it to run on it's own screen which works fine.

So a change of GFX card changed the way it worked!

So I assume crashes with AMC version of Mplayer are related to GFX card and or driver issues!

@sicky
it is a pitty that the ATI HD driver are lacking overlay... i was so happy about the new SAM with more power... but than the HD-driver destroyed the bubble....

I hope this can be fixed soon. Fabio and me would like to have AMC on every Amiga : )
(which would mean special discounts for dealers)
