| Did anyone managed to make jabberwocky work with google talk servers? If yes, is there a guide that shows this can be done?
If you can use it with other jabber networks, please provide a few guidelines. Thank you all in advance. _________________ Amiga-Look.org - Beautify your Workbench |

IIRC gtalk requires security support (I have some code written for that using AmiSSL but I doubt it works). Perhaps it depends on gmail settings and if you disable https it works ootb.
I've heard Jabberwocky works with facebook but haven't tested it. _________________ The only spanish amiga news web page/club: CUAZ |

I tried also with JabberWocky 1.9beta, but no luck. It is a pitty that we do not have not a single guide of how to make it work with the major IM services not even from the developers of it. I hope that this will change soon and even see a newer version of it. _________________ Amiga-Look.org - Beautify your Workbench |

Hi, I tested with a 'facebook transport' account (like for MSN) with jabberwocky and it works fine. |

any XMPP server will work, but you have to add your contacts manually. a google talk user is typically either @gmail.com or @talk.google.com. a true gtalk transport is nice because it brings your contacts to you and (can) also support file transfers to/from google talk users. if you find a public XMPP server with such a transport, let us know.
by the way, for facebook users, you can log-in directly to facebook with jabberwocky. just sign in as @chat.facebook.com with your facebook password as the password. voila.

Thank you for you reply. Is the Jabberwocky program enough to do such IM communication with other people? It is up to date for this or it needs a totally new program for that?
I looked the source codes of Jabberwocky 1.7 and it seems that it started developed bak at 2002. Maybe it carries old problems until today, for the GUI it surely does. So I am asking if this would be a good idea to create a bounty for a new application that uses the latest versions of Jabber server, so that we will have a usable IM for varihous channels.
I also believe that there might be more than one users who could apply for that as the have experience on IM, such as the developers of AmiGG programmes, Epistula, SabreMSN and Jabberwocky.
We need a good native IM and the use of an global protocol like XMPP would reduce the overall work.
The above of course is my only opinion on that matter. _________________ Amiga-Look.org - Beautify your Workbench |

Not used Jabberwocky for a while, had been using with Facebookas described, fired up Jabberwocky yesterday (first time in a few months) and no longer seems to connect to FB?
Updated my settings with current FB password and updated to Jabberwocky 1.9, but just get a 'Connection reset!' message after it tries logging in.
Any ideas? Thanks! _________________ gtmooya's blog |

hmmm. just tried on my end, and it worked, but that doesn't help you. have you deleted the account from your account list and then typed the info again and saved? it's possible the current saved account is still using the old password.
you might also try PMing xenic as i believe he is the current maintainer. good luck!
