Will there be a update 5 for us sam460 users? I hear different things from different people. If yes then i hope they have solved this memory/swap issue that makes AOS4.1.4 freeze on our sam460 system. Its a big problem when you dont know when it will occur. There΄s been a long time now since last update. I really hope something is coming asap.

Swap issue also on Update 4 ?

Sadly I can`t tell you anything new, and no one is relevant but Steven Solie (that is Amiga Mr. Burns here).

AmigaOS 4.1.5 is promised as last turn of AmigaOS 4 support "as bugfix and maybe one or two new features, but most of new features will go to OS 4.2"

Its obvious bugfixes are needed, and as OS 4.1.5 actually is OS 4.1.4+X1000 support it night as well be skipped and that everyone gets 4.1.6 as end of OS 4.1 lifecycle.

In their "defence" I assume X1000 and OS 4.2 are taking most of their human resources (glad TW is almost done) and that it might be even that OS 4.2 comes first. That way those who wish would anyway transit to OS 4.2 and last bugfix would be a tribute to those who decide to remain with OS 4.1.

In other news our Nordic friend finally got his SAM 460 too ...

Ah soo. So freezing is a feature / bug? I didn`t know what was causing annoying freezing so I added more cooling and more power - but still freezing occurs. Damn...

@vox

Well the freezing issue is a big problem. You never now when it will occur. We also have the usb problem that sometimes when you boot wb its not working. If i want to show AOS4 to my friends to get them interested(and i really want that) in AmigaOne 500 you cant have problems like that. I think the problem with freezing started with update 3 but i might be wrong. I really hope we dont have to wait for AOS4.2 to get this solved. That might take 6-12 months if we are lucky. Thats why a fix for this problem would be really good.

@djnick
Yes, check the url above. I agree its really annoying.

For me (OS_4.1 upd 4 on a ΅) freezing is mostly caused by either using gcc or OWB-MUI. Since I upped stack for the compiling process to some 6 500 000, I am largely freed of that culprit. After every freeze on gcc I up the compile process' stack with another 500 000.
OWB-MUI is another matter. It looks like there are some processes spawned from the main process, but the main process does not wait for them to complete. Often after just clicking the icon the system freezes. Pictures take up a whole lot of memory and often the system freezes after visiting a site which consists of large numbers of pictures. Any pictures that is, not just 'that' kind of pics...

Can you disable javascript in the OS4.x version?

@OldFart

On my uAone I had not one single freeze with MUI-OWB (I use it 1..2 times a week since it was released). Maybe your problem is related to some known instability related to ethernet on uAone (appears normally only during bootup).
With GCC its been a while that I used it, but with gcc I had several crashes, too.

@Beeblebrox

And you have how much memory in your system?
And Oldfart has how much memory in his system?

Just a humble 256Mb...

EDIT:
Another curiosity just played up and does so quite often: after posting here, or anywhere else for that matter, I OFTEN have a message telling me OWB is about to repost my message again. This happens when I click the 'Previous' button. The only solution I see is the closing of the program and restart it. Never seen with OWB, IB, NetSurf, or any other.

@OldFart

That might well be the case for @Beeblebrox too, but using it 1-2 times per week vs your usage, which I gather is way more than that.

I still think this is memory, as in "leak".

Maybe you could provide some links to sites heavy on the graphics you suspect are bringing your system down.

Oops! Now I have to look for some more innocent sites...

I'll try and find some, but it appears to be an on-and-off game: sometimes it freezes on a particular site, the next time it plays friendly.

This is what I suspect as well.

Right, but the point with a leak is that at first you won't notice it, whereas IF you had hit that site after browsing for quite a while you MIGHT.

Regarding "previous". Just google "webkit" "back button" or similar to see the bugs.

You might have to enter "Safari" for more hits.

The sata-card is also acting weird. Is it Acubes responsibility to get better u-boot for sam460 to fix this booting problem when it sometimes freezes?
