So I installed OSD Launcher and all the programs necessary. I added it to WBStartup.

Now, how do I get it to appear? If I click the OSD Launcher icon, it shows up for a few seconds and fades away. Is there any way to ever get it back? Do I need to have particular screen mode settings to use it?

Have you ever used an apple Mac Keyboard ? When you press the volume keys for example, some pop ups appear on the Finder. OSDlauncher will do the same for you.

Its main goal is to use multimedia keys of your keybaord to set the voulme higher or lower, launch the calculator or AmigaAmp.

Please, read carefully the Readme.

Interesting. I already had Allkeys configured on my AmigaOne before installing OSD, so that my multimedia keys are tied to volume up/.down, mute, pause etc for AmigAMP or mixer.
I did read the instructions but I am guessing that having allkeys already configured will not work, since when I run OSDLauncher I am not seeing any OSD images on my workbench.
So I guess that OSD Launcher requires a complete reconfiguration of allkeys. I'll look more closely at the documentation. It took me a long time to set up allkeys, so I am hoping it won't be too painful to reconfigure it for OSDLauncher.

If you still use AllKeys, it's very very easy to implement OSD.

In AllKeys, for your multimedia keys, Volume Up for example,
you just have to replace your existing command by

For Volume Up key:
WBrun SYS:Utilities/OSDLauncher/VOL+

For Volume Down key:
WBrun SYS:Utilities/OSDLauncher/VOL-

For Mute key:
WBrun SYS:Utilities/OSDLauncher/MUTE

etc...
you will find all these commands by editing the file /OSDLauncher/AllKey/AllKeys.prefs.

Thanks...yes I found that these new commands are necessary and cut and pasted them out of the allkeys example provided with OSD Launcher. It is now working fine.
Oh, I noticed (and the documentation mentions this) that if I hold down the volume up or down buttons, sometimes i get DSI errors, Hope that can be fixed in the future.
It looks like a nice feature....I like the option to choose different themes.

new release of OSDLauncher for all problems on protection API
Version 0.3.7:
* Add all new icons by Thomas Blatt "tommysammy"
* Add OSDdocky by Thomas Blatt "tommysammy" :
For use: OSDdocky is only an info file and not a real docky.
Copy it to Utilities/Dockies
Click on your Amidock with your left buttom Then go to" Add Subdock"
A subdock will appears in Amidock
Click on the Subdock and stay there with your mouse then right mouse button and choose your icon(OSDdocky icon) Now you can edit the settings and change the name from subdock to OSD.
* Add Catalog Greek by Anthony Iliakis (AF Review Editor)
* Fix all ARexx scripts for locking API
* Add tooltypes : NOBOOTSPLASH for unload a boot splash and splash "is started" enable=0 disable=1
